On Wednesday, Eric Cantor strongly suggested immigration reform won't come up in the House of Representatives after he received a phone call from President Barack Obama.
"House Republicans do not support Senate Democrats' immigration bill and amnesty efforts, and it will not be considered in the House," the Republican majority leader said in a statement after the call. He accused the president of engaging in "partisan messaging" and offered no indication that the House intends to act on the issue. His full statement is below.
"Today, President Obama called me to discuss his desire for comprehensive immigration reform. The President called me hours after he issued a partisan statement which attacked me and my fellow House Republicans and which indicated no sincere desire to work together. After five years, President Obama still has not learned how to effectively work with Congress to get things done. You do not attack the very people you hope to engage in a serious dialogue. I told the President the same thing I told him the last time we spoke. House Republicans do not support Senate Democrats' immigration bill and amnesty efforts, and it will not be considered in the House. I also reiterated to the President there are other issues where we can find common ground, build trust and get America working again. I hope the President can stop his partisan messaging, and begin to seriously work with Congress to address the issues facing working middle class Americans who are struggling to make ends meet in this economy."

I believe it. President Obama has demonstrated his unwillingness to compromise on many, many issues. That said, Representative Cantor clearly wants immigration reform (amnesty), but he and the rest of the GOPe aren’t ready to cut their throats on the issue without some political cover from the Democrats. The GOPe has to at least appear concerned about border security for example.
This year’s lame duck session will be particularly ‘interesting’. No telling what sort of smelly disgusting legislation gets passed then.
If you don’t like the way Obama treats you, then show your displeasure with actions Cantor. You lemmings have allowed him to defy the Constitution over and over and all you can do is whine because he wasn’t nice to you. Obama was announcing to you that if you don’t do what he says, he is going to diss you again with more illegal executive orders and you will do nothing but whine and cave.
Doesn't this sound like Obama talking about Putin and Ukraine?

Cantor agrees with Obama but the timing is wrong. We will get amnesty right after the new congress is sworn in next Jan.
Beware the lame duck congress. No good shall come of it.
Also, if the Pubbies take the Senate, they will collaborate with the RINOs in the house and ram amnesty through. Bet on it.
IMO, the odds are 50/50 that a (RINO) Republican Senate (coupled with a Boehner controlled House) will be as bad or worse for the country than the current situation.
The GOPe is just itching to sell us out.

Yeah, fresh from attending Steve LaTourette’s “moderates are great” conference, we’re expected to believe that Cantor is all of a sudden “standing up to Obama.”
What probably happened is that Cantor & Company discussed the playbook to defeat conservatives and part of that is to pretend to be conservative to get renominated, then reelected, then get elected Speaker or remain as Majority Leader where he can continue to be an Obama policy ally.
We are not fooled!
Cantor is just trying to show some backbone in case Boehner does not seek the speakership in the next legislative session.
Cantor is still an amnesty pusher.
It's been replaced by unmitigated gall.
Perhaps the “Republican Main Street Partnership” meeting last weekend forced realization that the GOP actually does need conservative voters to win an election.
