Kirk reverses, will campaign for Oberweis against Durbin

Sen. Mark Kirk (R-Ill.) said Tuesday he will in fact campaign for Republican Senate candidate Jim Oberweis, despite earlier refusing because of his relationship with incumbent Sen. Dick Durbin (D).

“I will be campaigning for Jim Oberweis,” Kirk told the Illinois Radio Network.

Kirk said at the end of March that he would not be campaigning for the Illinois state senator challenging Durbin, who is seeking his fourth term. “I’m going to be protecting my relationship with Dick and not launching into a partisan jihad that hurts our partnership to both pull together for Illinois,” he said then.

Kirk and Durbin have an unusually strong relationship. Durbin helped greet Kirk on the steps when he returned to the Capitol last year after a stroke.

Kirk is now changing his tune on Oberweis but says his standing with Durbin won’t be harmed.

“He and I have a very good relationship," Kirk said on Tuesday. "He expects that in a general election that I would be backing the Republican candidate.”

Oberweis, a chairman of a dairy company, is a long-shot to beat Durbin, who had a 14-point lead in a Rasmussen poll last week.

Kirk himself is likely to be a Democratic target in blue Illinois in 2016.

A little late. We know where his real loyalties lie. With the democrat!

However, Durbin is not polling too well lately, only 51%. I have no doubt that Durbin will win, but it would be nice to have the democrats forced to spend money in Illinois to protect Durbin. And I'm sure Schumer would love for the Whip to go down, so he can become democrat leader or #2!

C'MON GUYS----LET'S DUMP A DUMMYCRAT

Sen Durbin is a Congressional stalwart---always on TV---expected to sail to victory. But how many voters know Durbin voted for ACA---exhibiting lock-stepping party loyalty not seen since 1930-40's era Europe. How many of his constituents lost their affordable plans?

This needs to go viral:

SEN. RICHARD DURBIN: “We believe — and we stand by this — if you like your current health insurance plan, you will be able to keep it, plain and simple, straightforward.” (Sen. Durbin, Congressional Record, S.6401, 6/10/09)

MEMO TO DURBIN VOTERS Lock-stepping Durbin embedded all of this into law:

(1) throwing millions of Americans off affordable health plans,
(2) burdening Americans w/ ruinous deductibles,
(3) nationalizing 1/6 of the US economy,
(4) installing IPAB's (Death Panels),
(5) abandoning seniors and the chronically ill,
(6) pulling $750 out of Medicare,
(7) decimating intergenerational transfers of wealth (grandma/pa's holdings go to the govt---not to you).

Well, its good to see that Kirk asked and got permission from Durbin to back the Republican. And its so magnanimous for Durbin to allow him to do so. Kirk should really thank him.

“....refusing because of his relationship with incumbent Sen. Dick Durbin (D).
The Republicans are thoroughly full of Obama and also hate America.

Ted Cruz was supposed to lose to Dewhurst according to The Hill as well. Anything written from inside Mordore is always highly suspect.

BTW, Kirk, just got bite the Big One. No mulligans on this one.

How is the Oberweis campaign being financed? Kirk will probably give nominal support to Oberweis the way John Connally did to Ralph Yarborough in the 1964 TX Senate race agaisnt the first Bush.

Ditka should’ve been the replacement Senate nominee in 2004 and we’d have been rid of the cancer of Zero (but the downside is that Hillary would’ve won the Presidency instead in ‘08).
