Lerner Wanted DOJ to Prosecute Tea Party

BEGIN TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: From Katie Pavlich at Town Hall.com: "According to new IRS emails obtained through a Freedom of Information Act request from Judicial Watch, former head of tax exempt groups at the IRS Lois Lerner was in contact with the Department of Justice in May 2013 about whether tax exempt groups could be criminally prosecuted for 'lying' about political activity."

So Eric Holder and Lois Lerner not only are liars, they're in cahoots. Lois Lerner was asking the Department of Justice to criminally prosecute people like Catherine Engelbrecht. This woman, this Lerner, this is a witch. This is a very unhappy -- well, you can tell. I mean, if everything's going her way, this is the kind of woman, person, not because she's a woman, she's just not happy. Don't doubt me on this. She's just seething with rage every day.

So she's in charge of tax-exempt status applications, and here comes the Tea Party, and we all know what happened, none of them were granted tax-exempt status. They were denied their constitutional rights to political free speech, and furthermore now we learn that she was sending e-mails up to DOJ asking that they be criminally prosecuted.

"These new emails show that the day before she broke the news of the IRS scandal, Lois Lerner was talking to a top Obama Justice Department official about whether the DOJ could prosecute the very same organizations that the IRS had already improperly targeted,' Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton said in a statement. 'The IRS emails show Eric Holder’s Department of Justice is now implicated and conflicted in the IRS scandal. No wonder we had to sue in federal court to get these documents.'" It's from the Freedom of Information Act requests.

Again, who is surprised? I know very few of you are surprised that there would be corruption, Department of Justice. This is, in my lifetime -- that's the best perspective I can offer, factually. This is without question the most politicized Department of Justice. Now, ideally, it should never be. That's the whole point. We are all equal before the law. The richest, the poorest, they are identical in a court of law. But not with this bunch, and everybody that pays any attention knows it. Everything that this administration does and its party is politicized. Everything. As is whoever is gonna host late-night TV comedy shows. It's political. The decisions are political. They're not based on who is funny. They're based on the right kind of funny.

"Last week news broke that Democratic Rep. Elijah Cummings' staff was in contact with Lerner about the conservative group True the Vote, despite denying any contact occurred. In this specific instance of Lerner discussing possible criminal prosecution of tax-exempt groups through DOJ, Democratic Senator Sheldon Whitehouse seems to have been the person to get the ball rolling.

But the headline here: "New Emails Show Lois Lerner Was in Contact With DOJ About Prosecuting Tax Exempt Groups." Fascinating stuff. Not real. Every day it's something new that doesn't surprise us. And of course the question, "Well, what can anybody do about it?" Lois Lerner has been held in contempt. She could be arrested. She could be prosecuted. She could be imprisoned.

Now, in an e-mail that Lois Lerner wrote, she said, "I got a call today from Richard Pilger Director Elections Crimes Branch at DOJ ... He wanted to know who at IRS the DOJ folk s [sic] could talk to about Sen. Whitehouse idea at the hearing that DOJ could piece together false statement cases about applicants who 'lied' on their 1024s..." So they were e-mailing back and forth.

She was e-mailing the DOJ and the DOJ was e-mailing her back. There was collusion going on, between the IRS and the Department of Justice targeting Tea Party groups. Lois Lerner desired to have them criminally incorporated. This is the United States of America. This is all the stuff, by the way, that if you talk to Democrats old enough, they'll tell you Richard Nixon did.

They will tell you that, but Richard Nixon didn't do anything like this. Richard Nixon may have wanted to -- Richard Nixon may, with loose lips, have talked about it -- but he never did anything like this. No Republican president ever has gotten close to anything like this. Republican presidents go overboard the other way, to prove that they're not partisan, to prove that they're not politicizing the DOJ or whatever cabinet position or department.

When you see stuff like this it’s not hard to imagine how leftist tyranny led to nearly 100 million murders in the 20th century.

Russia, Germany, China and the rest were virtually disarmed before all that happened. How does one disarm the most heavily armed populace in the history of the planet?

There is something very important that these emails tell us.

They were released only because they do not have the ability to wipe such data from their databases.

They cannot be sure that they can disappear damaging information.

Their IT people cannot be trusted by them to cooperate in a cover up.

Does anyone here really believe they turned these documents over because they respect the rule of law!?

Possibly by buying up all the available ammo as the DHS has been doing.

An update at the Townhall site mentions that it was the DOJ who contacted the IRS. This seems to be a significant point.

Corrupt from one end to the other. This administration is a multi-trillion dollar heist.

As long as Repubs have incompetent leadership nothing will happen. Tax day was a good oppertunity to run ads highlighting this abuse of power and nothing is heard of from the GOP leadership..

I find it interesting that it was only since the last election, just before this stuff really began popping good, that the establishment GOP became at real loggerheads against the Tea Party. Now I don’t know what that means-it could mean so many different things-but to me it’s interesting.

I wish the GOP would just grow a pair and have the House sergeant at arms to arrest and confine her for contempt. However, in order for that to happen, the order would have to come from ball-less Boehner.

Yes, but do you recall what happened when Hillary, “The Clinton” and her hubby, Tubby Clinton, bought up all the flu vaccines? They were stored improperly and what implications does that have about all that ammunition?

Are they going to keep in in Fort Knox? Doubtful.

That ammunition belongs to the Americun people!

> Their IT people cannot be trusted by them to cooperate in a cover up

Because even they realize abuse of power when they see it. More computer nerds / hackers are anti-government than pro-government by far but they’ve been forced into a corner by liberals who say all the intellectuals are on their side. Anyone with a real brain realizes how unemotionally stable the lefties are and that logic, reason, and rationality are not within them despite what they claim. In the end, I believe the hackers will tend to side with the conservatives views but don’ want to be labeled as such. Works for me...: )

I used to be a member of 2600 and meet with hackers every month. I know their mindset failrly well. Its just a puzzle to them and they are very politically opinionated and most don’t care for government intrusion...: )
