Ok....this is a good thread to ask:

WHat is a good indoor, small, barky dog for raising the alarm?

What is a good indoor-outdoor, medium to large dog for 1) raising the alarm, and 2) good defensive skillsets, yet good with family....(looking at czech or hungarian gsds).

Min Pin and Dobermann.

My small ‘alarm’ dog is actually my Portuguese Podengo Medio.

She lays on the flat file in my art studio and watches the yard and lane.

She is the one who usually spots ‘intruders’ first and when she barks, the Dobes spring into action.

If you buy a Dobe, buy a Euro bloodline, only.

Any dog will raise the alarm. It is up to you to decide if you want a dog that will take down an intruder of if that is your job. My Shitz Tzu will raise an alarm and she only weighs 20 lbs. My Job is to take care of them when they get into the house.
