Seen several tweets of this over the last hour, and now this vid of the defection is posted on YouTube.

The column had apparently been surrounded by several hundred pro-Russian civilians inside of Kramatorsk, with several older women linked arm-in-arm to prevent it's passing

At about 8:50, you can see the commander arguing with someone on the phone..

We had a situation in Nevada last weekend when a rancher, Bundy, stood his ground against a federal agency which is over-reaching. He and his family were assuaulted by the feds. So, it's happened here that people have had to stand up to over-reaching federal authority. We all wonder what would happen if tanks from another part of the US were brought in to tell us how to run our lives.

I'd be an American babouska, out front! But it's taken courage all over the world for me to realize that.

The coup gov in Kiev was given an unbelieveable opportunity; they were handed a country to run. They botched it from day one when they outlawed Russian as an official language. And now, they're handing the remnants of a military they have left to people who don't want their "protection".

Does that answer your question? And yes, I've been on the side of the pro-Russians in eastern Ukraine. It's all about self-determination. Crimea is the only place where the people got to vote. How can Kiev's coup gov salvage something? How about pulling back the troops and having a popular vote?

They are not ‘pro-russians’, they are russian military attacking a sovereign nation.

Would you support someone coming into your house and declaring it theirs? storming it with a military and having a ‘vote’, and oh, surprise it’s now someone else’s.

Russia has attacked and taken over a country, they have stormed their bases, taken their ships, and killed troops. This is simply one country attacking another for it’s resources and land. It’s not about self-determination.

Kiev ‘coup’ was a group of students and others that risked their lives, 100 dead!!! to stave off tyrany.

How is defending your country a ‘coup’, but a one country attacking another and taking it’s land a ‘self-determination’?

The Crimean attack taking the ships, sub, sinking 3 ships, attacking with 80000 troops, tanks to make sure the election goes their way...those were all grannys right?

How about all those brave Russian soldiers with their unmarked uniforms storming Ukrainian gov’t buildings and taking airports? All grannys right?

Why do you Russians always support putin’s actions? A country is being taken over by force and you shamelessly support it, why?

The truth is, we have no idea about the facts on the ground.

I suspect, people being what they are, that the number of residents of Ukraine (excluding Galicia and Volhynia) who will welcome the tanks is not inconsiderable.

We shall soon see.

“Pro-Russian” crowds are no bigger than 1-2 thousand people, even in +1 million people agglomerations. It is GRU’s action with commie grandmas used as human shields. It is clear for everyone except homo sovieticus. Mongoloids have been preparing that for years, likely Yanuk was put in charge in 2010 to allow that.

Oh, my Polish friend! How are you today?
What is happening? Was I right yesterday when I told you that Ukrainian army is deserting, and falling apart? Was I right when I said that there is no Russian invasion, but popular uprising against Kiev junta?

FReeRepublic has a very active pro-Putin Imperialism wing. Somehow they see Russian chauvinism and Putin's personal vast wealth as a conservative goal to enhance.

Don’t know if they are just gullible pro-putin types, or full on putin bootlickers.
It’s hard to believe that anyone on FR could support a Russian invasion of a country.

Just look at this idiot’s posts....no proof of Russian invasion. They not only invaded, but conducted elections. They announced it and supported.

He’s not blind, but purposefully deceiving and lying.

Kronos77: I asked you a question:

Why do you Russians always support putin’s actions? A country is being taken over by force and you shamelessly support it, why?

Can you answer it? or are you going to run away like your other Russian friends?

It depends on your definition of country.

Lines on a map are meaningless

...maybe because Russians elected Putin? I dont know. The country was free and neutral - and that NATO-led coup removed elected president, and than junta lost control over country.

Wait, wait, wait....

Are you telling us that it is true that Ukrainian troops are hoisting Russian flag, but that is actually only to fool people so that army can pass true?

:)

It was not a NATO led coup....it was a bunch of students that overthrew a Russian government, and took back their country.

what do russians electing Putin have to do with Ukaine?

Are you advocating that one country can walk into another, and simply have a vote for succession?

If the Mexican military walked into Arizona, and had a vote for succession, would you be out there waving a Mexican flag?

You still won’t answer my question will you? Why do you support a Russian invasion of sovereign nation?

Not to mention Ukies makes a HUGE minority within Russia about as large as African Americans in US. One in five Russians bears Ukrainian lastname (-sky, -chuk, -cko etc).

An idea of some natural hate between Ukies and Ruskies is mostly a fiction.

“You have Russian invading yet another country military.”

Did you even read the article? They are all Ukrainians.

And which country has Russia invaded militarily? The Russian troops never crossed the border.

The Ukrainians do not want to join the EU. How hard is that to understand? Their government was just overthrown by the west and they’d rather join Russia than the EU. Obama’s plan gas backfired.
