On April 6, Eurasianist storm troopers operating under Kremlin coordination launched assaults, seizing government buildings in Donetsk, Kharkiv, Lugansk, and several smaller cities in eastern Ukraine; declared themselves to be the assemblies of independent governments; and immediately invited Russian troops to invade and annex their respective fictional statelets.
There can be no doubt that many of the thousands of invaders involved were in fact Eurasianist storm troopers, and not, as reported by some media outlets, “pro-Russian protesters.” They carried the outward-radiating eight-arrowed flag of Putinist ideologue Aleksandr Dugin’s fascist Eurasianist movement and shouted and displayed its slogan for the operation, “Russian Spring.” There can be no doubt that their moves were made in coordination with Russian dictator Vladimir Putin, because he, for his part, has positioned 50,000 Russian troops just across the border, armed and equipped to carry out the requested invasion.

If we are not strong at home, we cannot be strong abroad. William Buckley is rolling over in his grave. National Review is anything but a “conservative” magazine. I am not a fan of the liberal West.

Putin’s assessment of the West is correct. We are weak, decadent and a vain Civilization. Russian’s pivot away from the West’s orbit is looking brighter each day.
Sorry but Ukraine is NOT a vital American interest. We’re not going to wage World War III on a lost cause. I know it sounds heartless but we’re not betraying the Ukrainians - we have never deceived them and have made it clear from the beginning their country is not worth American treasure, blood and lives.
The West has no principles, has no convictions and most importantly has no teeth. This is not the West that stood down the Soviet Union. We know it and more importantly - the Russians know it as well.

Copying Pieter Casparzen’s comment from another thread. I saw another comment about Ukrained earlier today that was very good, wish I could find it. Something about Ukraine being a pit for a long time with lots of mafia/type thugs, sort of famous for that. The US needs to clean its own rot out. Anyone who thinks the foulest administration in the history of this Replublican can or will do any good for any one isn’t thinking straight. It’s like expecting poison that is poisoning us to be good for some other people.
Putin’s KGB past does not make it acceptable for the US and the West to manipulate Ukraine into joining the EU.
Victoria Nuland of the US State Department euphemistically brags that the US has spent $5 billion to help “Ukraine realize its European aspirations”, which obviously means that in truth $5 billion was spent to gin up public support inside Ukraine to join the European Union.
Just like I oppose attempts to manipulate Ukraine into joining the EU, I oppose any and all attempts to merge the US into any international organizations, as they undermine US national sovereignty. I’d oppose attempts like this in any country.
I don’t support ANY supranational union, or one country ruling over another.
I believe in the idea of legitimate national sovereignty, that is, a nation should be allowed to continue being a nation.
In cases where there is some popular movement to change borders or sovereignty, foreign involvement, especially by financial elites who manipulate whole governments, should be eliminated.
I don’t support the idea of Russia reabsorbing Ukraine in total, as just a bit over twenty years ago Ukraine became independent, and unless proven otherwise, one can only assume that this action was the will of most of the Ukrainian people.
I do support existing agreements that are agreed upon without coercion or corruption using normal diplomatic means. So I realize that the US and Russia and other countries have military bases inside other countries, where both countries agree to the arrangement. These form legitiamate national interests if both parties agree, and the parties have a right to protect such legitimate national interests.
I also believe Obama is a corrupt, evil puppet, that US Presidents for over a century have been minions of the financial elites.
But regardless of the corruption of its leaders, I still believe that America - as well as every other nation - has a legitimate right and responsibility to protect its legitimate national interests.
Notice however, that the European Union, has no legitimate national sovereignty, because it is not a nation. The United Nations also has no legitimate national sovereignty, because it is not a nation.
Those organizations, and any like them, are tools of the financial elites, built by and for them alone. They have zero accountability to citizens of nations and they usurp the national sovereignty of nations. Accordingly, they should all be abolished, and their organizers tried and convicted of treason in the various countries where they knowingly and purposely conspired to undermine national governments.
Ukraine is bankrupt - and not a prime candidate for EU membership, which is decades away. It has no real market economy or genuine political pluralism.
NATO? It has an army split right down the middle that will never fight Russia. Its very demographics preclude it from being in the Western alliance.
Can Ukraine be saved? It would be a very expensive welfare project for the West with no real guarantee of success. It needs fundamental political and economic reforms - as it is now the black hole of Europe.
With all of this, its no wonder the West doesn’t want to lift a finger. There is no upside in saving Ukraine and the costs are what no one wants to think about.
That’s the gist of the situation the West is now facing.

It’s hard not to envy the Russians. They have a totalitarian president who loves his country; we have a totalitarian president who hates his country.
“#RussianSpring” is a twitter hashtag created by some teenage girl a couple of weeks ago, as a sort of mocking at the “ArabSpring” BS. I noted this last week in several posts.
It got picked up by a bunch of other people, and took off from there.
Saying Dugan started it shows the author is just regurgitating, and not actually reporting.
Hannity was yammering on his radio show today about a Russian warplane buzzing a US battleship. Saying we shouldn’t have to put up with it. Sean, please don’t beat the drums for the US war party. I don’t want to see us get involved in another Kosovo to support a failed thug state. Besides, if we shoot down a Russian plane, Putin will up the ante, perhaps even bomb and sink one of our ships. Then Hannity will really have something to cry about.
