The new owners of H.J. Heinz Co. have offered buyouts to all workers in Pittsburgh, where the ketchup-and-food giant has been based for decades, but insist the offer doesn’t signal a plan to move the company’s headquarters.
Instead, Heinz officials said the buyout is being offered because the new owners Berkshire Hathaway and Brazilian investment firm 3G Capital recognize the company’s new culture might not be “the perfect fit” for longtime Pittsburgh-based employees. Translation: we want workers who will actually work.
My ass. This is ALL about money. Get rid of the high priced employees and bring in new ones for half the cost.

So? Of course its about money. It’s called BUSINESS. Not charity.
Why do I get the sense that the crony corporatists in question don’t have such a concern, and that their actual intents are far less capitalist than that? We’d be seeing firings rather than buyouts if this were the case.
I agree, not smart for any large corporation to be headquartered in Pennsylvania, and to look back at the number of corporations that were formerly based in Pittsburgh.....just Damn!

and? You’re from PA, you know as well as I do the PGH based “food companies” are dysfunctional. They need to shed lots of old blood if the company wants to survive at all.
It’s about getting rid of the Americans and replacing them with Brazilians.
I would suspect that the state of Pennsylvania might be responsible for the loss of jobs via higher state taxes, lack of recruitment of big businesses, too much welfare for the non-working poor and allowing the lazies to steal whatever they could from Pennsylvania's coffers.
Now, I don't recall where the plant was, but it was in the Pittsburg area. Seems the unions at the Heinz plant wanted exorbitant perks with their new contract, including a lunch room, covered parking, and other things I don't remember.
Well, Heinz gave the union everything it asked for and then asked if everybody, with the union, was happy with changes and contract. The union was crazy happy about all of the changes they had asked for were given to them. Like I said, the union was happy.
With the union's happiness having been accomplished, and all demands being met, Heinz immediately closed the plant and fired everybody!

Heinz is the best ketchup in my opinion. Nothing even comes close by comparison. Too bad— Theraaazzaa and Lurch latched on to Heinz and now this... ‘let my ketchup go’.
