WASHINGTON — Former Army Sgt. Kyle J. White will be awarded the Medal of Honor on May 13, 2014, the White House announced late Tuesday afternoon.

White will receive the nation's highest military award for his actions during a dismounted movement in mountainous terrain in Aranas, Afghanistan, on November 9, 2007. He was then serving as a Platoon Radio Telephone Operator assigned to C Company, 2nd Battalion (Airborne), 503rd Infantry Regiment, 173rd Airborne Brigade.

White, who now works as an investment analyst in Charlotte, N.C., will be the seventh living recipient to be awarded the Medal of Honor for actions in Iraq or Afghanistan. He and his family will join President Barack Obama at the White House for the presentation ceremony.

White enlisted in the Army in February 2006 as an Infantryman. After completion of training at Ft Benning, he was assigned to Vicenza, Italy, with 2nd Battalion (Airborne), 503rd Infantry as a grenadier and rifleman, which included a combat tour to Afghanistan from May 2007 until August 2008. Following Italy, Kyle was assigned as an opposing forces Sergeant with the Ranger Training Battalion at Ft Benning, Ga.

White’s awards and decorations include the Purple Heart, the Army Commendation Medal with one oak leaf cluster and “V” device, the Army Achievement Medal with one oak leaf cluster, the Army Good Conduct Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Afghanistan Campaign Medal with one campaign star, the Global War on Terrorism Medal, the Non-Commissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon, the Army Service Ribbon, the Overseas Service Ribbon with numeral “2” device, the NATO Medal, the Combat Infantry Badge, the Parachutists Badge, the Air Assault Badge, the Presidential Unit Citation, and the Valorous Unit Award.

A briefer on the heroism of Mr. White.

I didn't see any details on his actions, this blog was one of the first to cover his actions in detail.

Dittoes.

And too bad the MOH is not being awarded to the soldiers who bled and even died at the hand of a muzzie terrorist.

Simply because they were attacked at Fort Hood.

Another Obama “I LOVE OUR SOLDIERS” photo-op.

I thought he loved the sound of the morning call to Moslem prayers more.

It is a travesty that a hero gets an honor from POSOTUS.

This is April, 2014, and the action for which he is to be recognized happened in 2007. Seven years. Are you kidding me?
It takes seven years for pompadoured bureaucrats in the Pentagon who have never heard a shot fired in anger to wring their hands and consider the possible political implications if they make the wrong decision. Oh, the pressures weighing heavily on these giants of mediocrity. How can they bear it? But, somehow, in seven short years they have decided that valor on the battlefield ought to be recognized. These slime do not deserve to breath the same planetary atmosphere as this man, but you can bet that they will be standing tall to be included in the pictures when he visits after the White House ceremony.

Great rant. I'm in complete agreement.

MOH decisions can wait. Too many more important social engineering actions to deal with. /s
