Not Israel’s fight.

They have territory of their own to patrol and protect. Their resources stretch only so far.

But if the US would take up the side of Israel in this “dispute” (to put it mildly) with the “Palestinians”, and displace them all back to Egypt, or Jordan, or Saudi Arabia, or Syria, or wherever the hell else they came streaming in from, and restore ALL of Jerusalem and the “Palestinian” territories to Israel, then I see little likelihood of Israel ever making any offer on the Ukraine or any other extraterritorial dispute.

“Yeah, well, German and England were two of our biggest enemies in prior centurys and then they became allies. Things change.”

Things haven’t changed. They’re still arming and bankrolling all of Israel’s enemies. They’ve aided the Syrian, Iranian and Iraqi nuclear weapons programs, in fact they completed the Iranian nuclear reactor after the Europeans abandoned it in ‘79(russia is the only reason the Iranians will eventually have nuclear weapons). They lent support and funding to the Iranians during their recent internal uprising. They’ve been propping up their ally Assad for the past few years against his internal revolt. Israel had to destroy Russian missiles being shipped to Hezbollah through Syria just a few months ago. They’ve cozied up to Hamas to the point where there’s an initiative in Gaza a few months ago that the Gaza strip should consider holding a referendum to join the Russian Federation. The Russians have had their hands on the strings of every single problem the Israelis have had to deal with in recent years, and have not changed their behavior in the slightest despite frequent and repeated diplomatic overtures. The Russians see the Iranian/Hezbollah/Palestinian axis as their only way to exert influence in middle east politics with the Israelis, Gulf Arab States, Jordanians and Egyptians being (relatively) close US allies. They’re not about to give their connections and contacts up to make nice with Israel.

“Or maybe this:”

No, I don’t think it has anything to do with WW2 :))

Much more likely with your beloved soviet potentially increasing his support even more for Hezbollah, Iran and all.

~A lot of Russians living in Israel these days.~

Actually more than in Ukraine as a percent of a total population figure. And somehow there are no riots to join ‘Mother Russia’. Maybe Ukraine itself is a problem?

Ah the Soviets. I remember them. They are as dead and gone as puissance in Europe. In both cases, a good thing.

To make a long story short. The White house spends the better part of 5 years undermining Israel at every step, then get’s mad because Israel won’t back em up.

***************

No. He gets mad because Israel is not a puppet state for anyone.

It’s time for Israel to finally cut its umbilical chord to the increasingly anti-Semitic, pro-Iranian U.S. and set out on its own to build its own future.

***************

Not merely pro-Iranian, but as the “Arab Spring” proved, whichever is the most radical jihadist, anti-secular entity in any Moslem nation - even in areas outside of the Middle East.

What? We’re supposed to give a damn which country the Crimea belongs to? Why does the US? Let them duke it out or not, as they prefer. I’m not even making popcorn.

Since the US isn’t interested in stopping a nuclear program in Iran, just proving that it’s pieceful, the US should be disappointed, but hardly surprised.
