Armed guards surround Bundy, supporters fear imminent threat

LAS VEGAS -- Local rancher Cliven Bundy may have his cattle back, but his supporters say they are still preparing for an imminent threat.

Militia groups from all over the country say they are flocking to the Bundy ranch to protect the family from a feared federal government raid.

The Bureau of Land Management allowed Bundy to release his cattle Saturday, after they felt threatened.

Bundy now has a whole contingent of armed guards surrounding him 24 hours a day.

"They're just there, trying to make sure something crazy doesn't happen to him," Bundy's son Ammon Bundy said.

His security detail and family feel he is someone to be protected because of what the federal government could do.

And thanks for your 2 cents. I like to get another opinion which is precisely why I wrote what I did. :) That has also been my argument at times, 10% penalty vs. possible 30% potential loss. Every time the dow goes up I say I’m going to sell and he tells me to just be patient but the volatility these past few months added to other financial news is making me quite nervous.

The inflation is another good argument. I know our food bill has gone up quite a bit despite the “low rate of inflation” we’ve had.

And thanks for your 2 cents.

You're most welcome. It's good you are both weighing your options, and it's good to have options - some folks don't. And don't forget about partial options (i.e., taking one bird out of the bush and leaving the other to grow - maybe. :-)).

Back in the 70’s when food and housing were included in the COL index, the inflation rate was north of 9%.

I remember grocery shopping when the prices on food, increased daily. Canned goods were remarked several times a day and a can would be covered by numerous stickers.

Sometime later, food and housing were removed from the Index and voila, we had lower inflation.

Trust your instincts. We are so post-1984 that it’s frightening. Yet what can one individual do?

Rush seemed to change a lot after the 2012 election. He no longer talks about broadcasting until everyone agrees with him.
Instead he talks about the “low information voter.”

He has more courage than I have.

Another reason the post office is stockpiling ammo is to combat “Going postal” citizens, which might include everyone. What other government agency appears daily at almost every residence in the USA and doesn’t attract attention by its presence?

I agree that words of caution is needed when discussion militia planning; however the legal requirement of needing a warrant before invading a private home is a joke.

We’ve seen too many examples of police home invasions and monitoring a private(?) conversation to think that whatever the police state wants to do, it will do it.

An answer of why 75% of Nevada being owned by the Feds is because the police state stole the land from its original owners—Native Americans.

Some of the tactics used included murder, intentional exposure to small pox, using genetic weakness to produce alcoholics .

- I am about 25% American Injun and I seem too have survived as my family did before me

- The many and various tribes were not exactly gentle with other Indian tribes and there were blue-eyed people in what we now call the USA and Canada from Northern Europe long before my Viking and Mayflower (Leod the Black and then Francis Cooke and his son John) ancestors landed here many moons ago

- Pardon me while I open a well-chilled Corona Extra (I have genetic weakness for native-brewed Corona) and then finish cleaning the cylinder and barrel of my big vintage Colt .44-40 SA

Waco was viewed as a marginalized cult, so there was less resistance to the Fed action at the time. The Bundys are mainstream folks, ad typical of the folks in their area (Rancher types). Everyone can see themselves in the predicament the Bundys are in, so the Feds, and their masters; the Hawaiian Foreign Exchange Student, and the Leach who sucks on a Chinese Teat with his son, have to be more careful with each action...

For a militia to be effective there needs to be training curriculum that is disciplined, organized, and standardized that matches or exceeds that of the opposing force if it is to succeed. It would require funding to operate and volunteer manpower by the well experienced and trained wih ranks and divisions set up for different duties.

The Michigan Patriots Association had such a training curriculum set up. They were disbanded under Federal pressure. I've reprinted some of their training material in my book RESISTANCE TO TYRANNY (yes, a shameless plug). Available from Amazon as either printed copy for for Kindle.

They became knowledgeable REAL quick. My one daughter can get too sucked in by it “What gives the stupid government the right to....” (like her old man!).

My other daughter doesn't get too riled up by it, but we spend time looking at the net and stuff on things like that to get them educated.

With the Bundy Ranch thing, it seems that it didn't have much play in most media.
