Bundy ranch dispute with federal land agency draws variety of foot soldiers

BUNKERVILLE — Cliven Bundy’s fight with the Bureau of Land Management over the federal agency’s roundup of his cattle attracted a diverse group of foot soldiers: fellow ranchers, Las Vegans and militia and patriot groups were among them.

Their battle cry is the U.S. Constitution and liberty. They fear the federal government overstepping its bounds at every turn. This concern, in their view, applies to those from all walks of life, be it a rural Southern Nevada rancher or a militia member from northern Montana.

Ultimately, the Bundy protest — which was defused Saturday when federal land officials agreed to end the weeklong roundup that culminated in a 20-minute standoff between armed protesters and law enforcement officers — became an outlet for those wanting to voice their opinions about government overreach and any perceived infringement of constitutional rights.

Armed militia members wore holstered weapons and mingled with cowboy-hatted ranchers throughout the week. Tents popped up across the landscape and vehicles became temporary bunks as the Bundy ranch, about 80 miles northeast of Las Vegas, turned into a gathering place for traveling pilgrims from across the nation.

“We’re all in this together,” said Rick Lovelien, 50, a militia member from Libby, Mont., with the Montana State Defense Force.

The armed standoff ended, Lovelien said, the way it should have — with the cattle returning to the land.

Already have taken precautions. But that flickering red dot is annoying.

If Bundy had followed the laws and signed the agreement with the BLM he would have been out of business 20 years ago.

The agreement that they wanted him to sign called for him to cut his herd drastically. If he had cut his herd to the level that they demanded, he would have lost his OWNED water rights since not enough livestock would have been using the water.

And that is the reason that so many chose to support him. Do you really think they would have rallied to his defense if he was just a deadbeat?

Where is the proof that courts have decided incorrectly against Bundy? I have not seen one bit of legal analysis that says Bundy should’ve won.

You say that like its not happening. Personally I think they have a special unit set up to cause or enable shooting to shift the public opinion in their favor. All you have to do is find someone with a propensity to violence with mental health issues then push their buttons (veterans files alone would supply them with plenty of names.), make them think they are crazy be beaming high intensity ultrasonic waves into their skulls, to increaee their pressure. They already have technolofy that they use in stores that beams audio where only you can hear it if you are in one spot. Make sure their life goes to hell in a handbasket by making the lose their jobs, get them charged with a crime they didn’t commit, get their wife to leave them, make it look like someone stole their identity, etc. make sure they own a gun or two then plant thought about killing people in teir skulls or make them sel-destructive and voila - mass murderer.

The law that cut his herd down to 150 cattle would have put him out of business. That was their goal from the beginning. Bundy did the only thing he could to keep his business alive, he ignored the ridiculous BLM laws.

Do you really think the powers that be would let that type of thing float around on the Internet?

That’s what I needed to know. The LSM is parroting the ‘he was ordered by the court, but the BLM said this weekend that they would not enforce the order.

I still say that someone wants Bundy’s entire ranch.

Ya ask these people yapping about some cow grazing fees from people who produce, why the American people are paying hundreds of billions annually in taxes and fees for illegal aliens, and they immediately run for the tall grass.

Bundy didn’t break any laws thats why he’s not in jail. He ignored some capricious regulations which were written by unelected officials in order to force him off grazing land he and his family have had rights to for 140 years.

Regulations are not laws.

I’M thinking that MILLIONS of Americans woke the hell up and realized, “Wow! Guns AREN’T just for hunting deer!”

And it’s made a WHOLE lot of people in Washington very, very nervous.

“ THIS is why we need gun registration. The government people only pulled back because the crazed rednecks were getting ready to shoot”

wait for it. That theme isn’t long in coming

What a disappointing attitude you have. And rather shallow as well.

Did you know there is actually a revolutionary clause in the Constitution where if the gov goes overlord, we have the responsibility to replace said government?
