AP NEWSBREAK: RUSSIAN JET PASSES NEAR US WARSHIP

WASHINGTON (AP) -- A Russian fighter jet made multiple, close-range passes near an American warship in the Black Sea for more than 90 minutes Saturday amid escalating tensions in the region, U.S. military officials said Monday.

In the first public account of the incident, the officials said the Russian Fencer made 12 passes, and flew within 1,000 yards of the USS Donald Cook, a Navy destroyer, at about 500 feet above sea level.

The U.S. warship issued several radio queries and warnings using international emergency circuits, but the Russian aircraft did not respond.

"This provocative and unprofessional Russian action is inconsistent with international protocols and previous agreements on the professional interaction between our militaries," said Army Col. Steve Warren, a Pentagon spokesman.

Obumbler is Putin's beotch at this point. Emperor Zero has no clothes, and has projected weakness internationally for so long, the Russians can "buzz" US ships with impunity. Our wussified rules of engagement probably prevent our Navy ships from even defending themselves.

"If attacked, sink in place."

A Fencer? Too bad we didn’t have any F-8U Crusaders to scramble.

Was the Phalanx broken?

This reminds me of the destroyer that took an Exocet from an Iraqi A-4.
The Captain though the airplane wasn’t a threat, until it was too late.

If we had a real president, that could well have happened. A Phalanx should make short work of it.

And we wouldn’t make passes if a Russian ship sailed into the Gulf and started patrolling our coastline?

What would we do if Putin decided to sink it? Have Obama or his carefully selected military leaders made any plans for what they would do in response?

You don’t make a provocative move like that—sending a warship into what are basically Russian waters, whatever the international legal position may be—without having backup plans. But it seems very unlikely that Obama’s jerks have made any such plans.

Russia acts like a petulant child because it relies on the US to be the grownup.

It's remarkably telling behavior

The Black Sea isn't Russia's coastline.

Oh, it's the US that is being provocative.

Not the dictator who invaded and annexed his neighbor's territory.

Obama has been successful: made previously sane Americans start blaming their own country for everything it does - even when it does the right thing.

Putin loves this: weakminded Americans are his best friends.

Russia is looking for an excuse to invade Eastern Ukraine.

It is doing anything it can to get Ukraine or any country friendly to Ukraine to provide a handy Reichstag fire.

My thinking exactly. We’re talking tough and making all kinds of threats then move a warship into what is basically Russian’s Gulf of Mexico. I think we’d be checking it out. At least I hope we would. Then again....

backwoods-engineer, at least all the countries of the world love us. /s

A friend in the Navy during Carter and Reagan told me that under Carter Syrian jets would break the sound barrier as hey passed between and below the two high points on his ship. It caused damage and broken ear drums. Under Reagan he said nobody’s planes even came close.

Nobody fears a Democrat.

Back when the Berlin Wall went down I warned people the Soviet Union was not dead by any stretch of the imagination. Some officers of higher rank actually got mad at me for saying such things.

The Russians kept up their R&D on their nuclear weapons as we paid them billions of dollars to decommission their old ones. They used the money saved to design newer weapons and now that a total train wreck of a pResident has been in office they are acting almost exactly as I predicted. It is too bad that when I made those predictions I was only a Captain and now most of the flag officers are leftist political hacks who value their positions more than our Country and the Marxist in the White Hut really wants to turn the United States into a worthless third world country.
