Anyone know what an E-10 (or whatever his rank is) makes per month? My guess is that it's a whole lot more than what an E-4 makes. And maybe even more than an O-3 makes.

:: “I truly believe it will raise discipline,” Barrett said. “You’ll have better spending habits. You won’t be so wasteful.” ::

Socialism.

AKA: I have a position of influence! Do as I think you should be doing [insert “for the good of...” comment here].

Here is something I hope someone in Congress will try:

Introduce the Barrett Theory Test Bill the purpose of which will be to test Barrett’s theory that people will be more disciplined in their spending habits if they have less money. That bill will have the following provisions:
1. The Sergeant Major of the Marine Corps’ pay will be cut 10% immediately.
2. The Sergeant Major of the Marine Corps must report his daily spending and borrowing to Congress on a quarterly basis.

Let’s see how much discipline a 10% reduction in his income will make him.

My prediction is the maggot will retire rather than take a cut in pay.

Talk about using your moral position to kill moral.

And where does he get off unilaterally declaring that Marines are wasteful?

This jackass should be fired.

Didn’t some Admiral or General recently say that if you didn’t agree with Obama’s social engineering of the Military, you were welcome to retire?

I have it on good authority that there is a ‘bit’ of panic in the Sergeant Major’s Office. And no I won’t comment on the source.

Nobody, and I mean nobody, in the U.S. Armed Forces from E-1 to O-10 is overpaid. In fact, most enlisted & officers are way underpaid for what they do.

“Generous compensation”? I’ve never known a military man who thought his or her compensation was generous.

Give Sgt Barrett the same pay as an E-1 and see what he says.

He still does not get it.

His explanation was that they needed to slow down pay raises so they could buy equipment. The obama administration fed this to the Pentagon, they devoured it then fed it to him and he devoured it. Now, he's trying to feed it to his marines. His job is to fight for them and represent them. Instead, he's rolled over like a good doggy. Probably why he was selected for the job, anyhow.

The leadership in today's military seems to be, by and large, very questionable.

These positions as sevice department’s chief enlisted person are purely political. You don’t get picked for those jobs just like you won’t make General if you are an officer unless you are of the right ,or should I say left political pusuasion. That is why our services are going down the toilet now, the Dimwit in the a White House is promoting only lefties and using the military as a social experiment.

“Nobody wants less,” Barrett continued. “But if we don’t slow the growth of our hard-earned generous compensation/benefit entitlements that we have enjoyed over the past decade, we don’t have sufficient dollars for what we need — investment in our warfighting capabilities and our wonderful Marine and family care programs.”

This guy is digging a deeper hole. He can't be that stupid so he must be spewing this nonsense on purpose. Well he is in a prominent position in the heirarchy of beast.mil. He follows the orders and agenda of the one who pays him.

The money for "what we need" is systemically and routinely skimmed and scraped off though multiple levels of graft and corruption, but hey pal don't look there and fix the nature of the beast, just find more cash in places where the money actually belongs, and start scavaging and cutting under the usual pretext of "saving money".

The DoD's BS about "saving money" or "cutting costs" or "streamlining" is merely a thinly veiled code for diverting those funds into more desirable programs and pockets. Ecowacko money pits, perversion support and tolerance reeducation, "fixing" stuff that isn't broken so there's always a make work project to repair the inevitable damage and dysfunction, things like that. And perpetual uniform changes, can't leave that one out, lol.
