KIEV (Reuters) - Ukraine's interim president said on Monday that the Kiev leadership was "not against" a referendum being held on the type of state Ukraine should be and added he was sure it would confirm the wish of the majority for a united, independent country.

The holding of a referendum has been one of the demands of separatist rebels in eastern Ukraine.

Oleksander Turchinov, in televised remarks to a parliamentary committee, added that such a poll could be held at the same time as a presidential election on May 25.

He added that an anti-terrorist operation involving the army would begin in eastern Ukraine, unless rebels laid down their arms, and that the Donbass region "will soon be stabilized".

The Kiev Maidan regime seems overconfident. If it really had the upper hand, it would not need to announce a concession up front.

And if the operations in the Donbass bloody its nose - wait for more to follow. Moscow is going to go for the jugular. To the Russians, they face a weak enemy.

Who cannot dislodge them in its own backyard. No it isn’t Crimea - but Russia’s objective is not to occupy Ukraine but to demonstrate to Kiev no solution can happen except on Moscow’s terms.

That will become clear soon enough.

That was no concession; that was PR. Secession will not be an option under the supposed concession.

Prediction: If any such vote took place, the Donbas region would vote heavily for the greatest autonomy, and would be out-voted by those desiring to be taken over by the EU.

Russia would not accept one except on its terms.

That’s why they’re dictating the terms not the other way around.

If I recall the Army and police were forbidden from interfering with the insurrectionists in Kiev even as they threw firebombs onto the cops. Now that same group is going to kill people that are protesting them. I smell a Globalist/Soros rat.

Almost. George Soros personally ordered the army and police to stand down, so that a hand-picked team from Monsanto could murder 100 globalists, and blame it on the innocent president.

Your poor attempts at ridicule are straight out of Alinsky’s Rules for Radicals. Did a Soros front group provide you with a copy?

No, I write the copy for Soros. Only you see through it.

You’re too funny to write for Soros. You should write for Jimmy Fallon.

Your conspiratorial fantasies defy Occam’s Razor.

And although you probably aren’t aware, your belief in the nefarious Blofeld-esque Soros is rooted in the rantings of Lyndon LaRouche back in the 1980s.

Is Putin using clandestine funding, “change agents”, and infiltrators in a conspiracy to steal the Eastern parts of Ukraine?

It is too early to say. What I do know:

1)They seized key buildings of all 3 major cities bordering Russia on April 6/7.
2)They are armed.
3)They are calling for Putin to save them from ‘Kiev radicals’.

So, my assumption is that they probably are, although they could be genuine separatists. They did, after all, ransack some armories in the East.

Unlike you, I don’t believe in wildly convoluted conspiracy theories. Not until there is beyond reasonable doubt.

What's so wildly convoluted about Putin using covert funding and infiltrators to help overthrow the government in Ukraine.

Putin is using the Russian Army with no insignia in a foreign country. That’s state sponsored terrorism and an act of war. If you want to play for Team KGB you need to own it all, FRiend.

What’s convoluted is your conspiracy implicating Soros, Nazis, EU, NATO, CIA and the CFR in a plot involving paying huge numbers of protesters and using snipers to shoot said protesters in a plot to destabilize Ukraine and install neo-Nazis as the new government. Because you know, greed. And globalism.

But Putin doing the same thing is not a convoluted conspiracy?

Oh yes, and of course the background behind all of those forces collaborating in Ukraine is that they are also all agents of the shadowy NWO organization which plans to bring globalism so that they could usher in world tyranny.

Because, that’s the explanation that requires the least assumptions. Not.

Uncle Scam is using CIA trained and armed Al-Qaeda foreign mercenaries to slaughter Christians and overthrow the goverment in Syria. What do you call that?
