Kansas Jewish Center Shooting Suspect Identified as Former KKK Leader

The 73-year-old man charged with murder in the shooting at a Jewish community center and retirement community in Overland Park, Kansas, that left three people dead is reportedly the former Grand Dragon of the Carolina Knights of the Ku Klux Klan.

Fraiser Glenn Cross Jr., of Aurora, Mo., was taken into custody in the parking lot of an elementary school near the scene of the shootings, and was booked on a charge of first degree murder, according to the Johnson County, Kansas, Sheriff's Office.

Cross is an alias for Frasier Glenn Miller, the former KKK leader, according to the Southern Poverty Law Center.

In a statement released tonight, the SPLC said it was able to identify Cross as Miller after a phone conversation with Miller's wife, Marge, in which she told them police had come to her home and told her that her husband had been arrested in the shootings.

By the way, at least one native born German thought that “zi” comes from Sozialist, which is where I got the idea.

You're correct. From Wikapedia...

The National Socialist German Workers' Party (German: Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei, abbreviated NSDAP), commonly known in English as the Nazi Party (/ˈnɑːtsi/), was a political party in Germany active between 1920 and 1945. Its predecessor, the German Workers' Party (DAP), existed from 1919 to 1920. The term Nazi is German and stems from Nationalsozialist, due to the pronunciation of Latin -tion- as -tsion- in German (rather than -shon- as it is in English), with German z being pronounced as 'ts'.

The disparate handling of the "ts" sound may trace to where your family and my German teacher were from. Herr Scheck was from Stuttgart, so I learned German with a Bavarian dialect.

I thought “Nazi” came from “Nazionale.”

Well for sure he is a democrat, why you may ask, well for one thing the democrats founded the KKK, and another they don’t mention which party he is connected to, which means, “DEMOCRAT”, else they would say he is a republican...

Boy this is getting too easy..

The late, unlamented Robert C. Byrd was a former KKK leader.

SPLC are loathesome but I did read their summation on him. Won’t quote it but one can see a few things about him and his recent activities from there.

Do Germans say “Nah-see?”

That must be why they in common speech started first calling themselves “Nazis” mention National but shorter, and then writing Nazi instead of Nati which would have been pronounced Nah ti.

Apparently he ran for office in North Carolina once as a Democrat and once as a Republican. He’s run twice in Missouri as an independent write-in.

I am just dumbfounded at how utterly senseless this was.

I had the same reaction. Crazed anti-Semite kills Methodists ... try to account for that ...
