Democrat Congressmen Ask Obama to Ban Import of 'Military-Style, Semiautomatic Firearms'

On April 9th, a large group of Democrat representatives sent a letter asking President Obama to prohibit the importation of "military style, semiautomatic firearms."

Led by Reps. John Conyers, Jr. (D-MI) and Eliot Engel (D-NY), the letter was signed by "about 80" Democrats.

According to The Washington Times, Conyers and Engel are basing their request on the 1968 Gun Control Act, which they claim gives Obama "broad authority to prohibit guns and ammunition from being imported into the country." The exception would be if the products are "generally recognized as particularly suitable for or readily adaptable to sporting purposes."

The Democrat representatives stated that the import ban was enforced under George H.W. Bush and Bill Clinton and that restoring it "would make our nation safer." They asserted that the ban would also "support neighboring Mexico where drug violence is fueled by firearms flowing south from the United States."(continued)

They will be armed by the regime. It’s the Crackers that he’s worried about.

800,000 to be close to exact wasn’t it? I thought they reversed on those and were importing them for the CMP again, no?

..."the letter was signed by "about 80" Democrats."

Allen West: "I believe there is about 78 to 81 members of the Democratic Party that are members of the Communist Party.”

I think they’re referring to the Draco pistol.

That jackass, president Bush, banned the importation of anything produced by the China North Industries.

I remember the Bush 41 import ban being based on a list of firearms by name, resulting in things like the B-West and similar roll marked AKS rifles (legal AKs, disassembled and rebuilt on new receivers with non-banned markings). They may have stopped sending the bayonets with the rifles at that point, too.

As far as the total ban of Chinese-built firearms (and ammo), that came later under Clinton. That's when the Chinese SKS pipeline finally slammed shut.

And what about the hundreds of thousands of Korean arsenal refinished M1 Carbines ... nothing better for pig hunting in brush ... good for the dog sized deer we have in Florida also..

Seems rather convenient that a huge powder supplier goes offline now...

James Bond has been using them for DECADES!
*************************
Most of the “Bond” guns in print and film were .22 or .25acp ,, real covert/concealable guns. It’s not the size of the hole .. it’s if it’s enough to do the job and up close .22 is just fine.
