NEW YORK (AP) — In an unsparing critique of Republicans, President Barack Obama on Friday accused the GOP of using voting restrictions to keep voters from the polls and of jeopardizing 50 years of expanded ballot box access for millions of black Americans and other minorities.
"The stark, simple truth is this: The right to vote is threatened today in a way that it has not been since the Voting Rights Act became law nearly five decades ago," Obama said in a fiery speech at civil rights activist and television talk host Al Sharpton's National Action Network conference.
Obama waded into the acrid debate over voting access in an election year where control of the Senate, now in the hands of Democrats, is at stake, as is Obama's already limited ability to push his agenda through Congress.
Republicans say the voting measures guard against voter fraud, but Democrats say they erode the landmark 1965 law that helped pave Obama's path in politics.
"Across the country, Republicans have led efforts to pass laws making it harder, not easier, for people to vote," he said, relating anecdotes of voters turned away because they didn't have the right identification or because they needed a passport or birth certificate to register.

That would depend on the State. States control elections, if a State deemed it a Right, then it is. Though, I don’t know of any State where it is a Right in the general election.

Massive voter fraud is one of the bigger arrows in their quiver. With their system in place, and fully operating, they cannot lose any national election and democracy will be dead. Obama has brought them close to that goal and their hope is that he can carry them across the goal line.
I can never understand why showing an ID to vote is such a big deal. Here in Connecticut, I’ve had to show an ID to vote since I started voting in the late 1970’s.
And the woman I had to show it to was the mom of a high school friend who knew me for years but still had to see my ID.
I always assumed that ID’s were required everywhere. How wrong I was.
They at least needed an ID to go to a voting right's protest a few months ago. I should dig that story out, but it struck me one of the best definitions of IRONY that I had seen in awhile.
What astonishes me is that this guy,and people like him,are implying that these minorities are too stupid to figure out a way to prove their identity but whites have no problem doing just that.

Hell, you can make it to the white hut without producing any kind of ID, so what’s everyone’s problem about being able to vote with no ID...hope I don’t need to add the sarcasm tag.

Well, it is the conservative right to vote that is under attack since voter fraud is accepted and encouraged by the left.
Actually this is preparation for Democrat loses in fall 2014, so the so called GOP racist voter ID requirments can be blasted for violating their ‘right to vote’ without ID...meaning they will be screaming again.
