Militiamen make their presence felt in protest of BLM’s livestock grab
Las Vegas Sun ^ | April 11, 2014 | By Ed Komenda

BUNKERVILLE — The militiamen rolled in to draw a line in the dirt.

About 70 miles northeast of Las Vegas, they set up camp on a sun-baked patch of land next to a bend in the Virgin River, keeping supplies — like rucksacks and sleeping bags — in neat piles under the roof of an abandoned shack.

Gruff and largely unshaven, dressed in camouflage fatigues and cut-off shirts, the men kept their intentions quiet, telling news reporters the reason they pulled their trucks into this rural desert town — on one of the hottest days of the year — is simple enough: “We’re here to camp,” said one man who would not share his name.

But they were really here to protect one of their own from the perceived enemies: a band of federal agents recently dispatched to the scrub desert to seize the cattle of embattled rancher Cliven Bundy.

“They’re here to protect Cliven’s family and home,” said Lynn Brown, one of Bundy’s daughters.

A 68-year-old Nevada native, Bundy has long been at the center of a battle with the Bureau of Land Management, the federal agency controlling the 150 miles of desert where the rancher’s cattle have roamed for decades. A renegade when it comes to any sort of government control, Bundy — the father of 14 children — has refused to pay BLM a dime of required grazing fees for his 900 cattle, a tab that has since reached $300,000. Bundy has fought the fee, he says, because his Mormon ancestors set up shop on the land long before the BLM formed.

The problem? The land where Bundy’s cattle graze is federally owned, and the BLM now says the livestock aren’t supposed to be there. Federal agents this week cordoned off sections of land and sparked...

> A writer friend of mine tipped me to this article and the author, “Daxton Brown” (he researched and wrote a book about Harry Reid’s corruption)

“Harry Reid’s Connection to Bundy Ranch Siege”

http://www.futurnamics.com/reid_bundyranch.php

Explains a lot.

If you have any doubts that Reid is connected to organized crime and sleaze you won’t after read the article ^

The man is arguing from old common law, equity and natural law which were all jettisoned during the 20th century in favor of ‘positive law’ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Positive_law

IMO, odds of him having a winnable case are nigh nonexistent.

I suspect his efforts to pay other entities were to demonstrate honesty and good faith during the dispute, but that is not how it works and they properly refused it.

My understanding is that he has since lost in court, and had no means or counsel to move with an appeal.

He is a rancher not an appellate attorney, and it appears that people in very high places want him out and dispossessed of valuable land.

Good points. Again, that’s why I asked whether the unpaid fees issue was legit. The Feddies have obviously taken this way too far at this point, and are going to have a hard time backing down (not that they want to). It really has become about more than just grazing rights, for both sides. For private citizens, it’s about having a government that is accountable and respects rights, and for the feddies it’s about enforcing the “agenda” and justifying their militarization.

Don’t think this one has much chance of ending well.

Wasn’t one of the politicians in the movie Casino based on Reid?

It has been years since I was at a movie. I plead ignorance.

I have never heard of a movie called Casino.

But yes, it is common knowledge that Reid is Mafia Connected.

The movie came out in the 1990s and is based on Frank “Lefty” Rosenthal’s activities in Las Vegas and the Mafia’s involvement in gaming in Las Vegas.

If you have not read this open letter by Mike Vanderboegh, you should read it.

“An Open Letter to the Legislative Tyrants of Connecticut.”

February 27, 2014

http://sipseystreetirregulars.blogspot.com/search?q=Mike+Open+letter

Further down in Mike’s discussion:

” This is not a threat, of course. Not the personal, actionable threat that you may claim. It ranks right along with — no, that’s wrong, IT IS EXACTLY LIKE — an ex-con meeting me in the street and pointing to my neighbor’s house saying, “Tonight I am going to break in there, kill that man, rape his wife and daughters and steal everything that he is, has, or may become.” I warn him, “If you try to do that, he will kill you first. He may not look like much, but I know him to be vigilant and perfectly capable of blowing your head off.” That is not a threat from me. It is simply good manners. Consider this letter in the same vein. I am trying to save you from yourself.

For, like that common criminal, you have announced by your unconstitutional law and your public statements in favor of its rigorous enforcement that you have a tyrannical appetite for your neighbors’ liberty, property and lives. It doesn’t take a crystal ball to see that this policy, if carried to your announced conclusion, will not end well for anybody, but especially for you. To think otherwise is to whistle past the graveyard of our own history. (6)”

Ah, I was correct in my recollection.

“Frank Rosenthal did have a hearing with the Nevada Gaming Control Board. Furthermore, he argued with the chairman, the current Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, and was denied a gaming license. In 1988, he was officially put in the “Black Book” (List of Persons Excluded from Licensed Gaming Establishments in the State of Nevada). -Las Vegas Sun”

Reid is going to show Obama how it’s done. Obama only blew $527 million on his solar boondoggle (Solyndra), Reid is going for 10 times that.

In the meantime the KL pipeline waits...

We stand together always, or surely we will fail. Stop accepting legalism as justification for tyranny.
