BOMBSHELL REPORT: Sen. Harry Reid Behind BLM Land Grab of Bundy Ranch (freerepublic credited)

The Bureau of Land Management, whose Director was Sen. Harry Reid’s (D-Nev.) former senior adviser, has purged documents from its web site stating that the agency wants Nevada rancher Cliven Bundy’s cattle off of the land his family has worked for over 140 years in order to make way for solar panel power stations.

Corrupt Democratic Sen. Harry Reid (D-Nev.) working with the Chinese gov’t to take land from hard-working Americans.

Deleted from BLM.gov but reposted for posterity by the Free Republic, the BLM document entitled “Cattle Trespass Impacts” directly states that Bundy’s cattle “impacts” solar development, more specifically the construction of “utility-scale solar power generation facilities” on “public lands.”

“Non-Governmental Organizations have expressed concern that the regional mitigation strategy for the Dry Lake Solar Energy Zone utilizes Gold Butte as the location for offsite mitigation for impacts from solar development, and that those restoration activities are not durable with the presence of trespass cattle,” the document states.

How do you freeload on land the government pays nothing for, does nothing to improve, and has driven everyone else off of it for a corrupt Senators pet project?

Are you working for a solar development company by any chance?

Bundy’s family has been using that land long before there were any fees to do so.

interesting. We have a government in washington that is in a total melt down. The populace is pissed over repeated lies - I won’t list them because its boring. We have a communist in OUR White house . That is worse than a sexual predictor. But we are now “fed” up. and we are moving toward Nevada by the thousands ,for the first battle. The feds lose either way.

Look, first of all it was NEVER his land. It has been FEDERAL land since Nevada became a state. That was part of the law that went into effect when Nevada was granted statehood. Many ranchers in the lower West dispute it, but that is the law.

Second, the rancher in question, by his own daughter’s admission, stopped paying the fees in 1998 because the BLM was taking the money and not using it to improve anything. Now this is me, but I suspect the BLM was actually doing the opposite and tearing out improvements.

So Bundy was grazing on federal land for twenty years without paying any grazing fees, while the rights were sold to some front group for Harry Reid. My question is this.

My family has had dealings with the BLM (again, I have unfortunate experience here). They don’t let you graze for free very long. Why did they do it for twenty years? More to the point, my did the BLM now decide to send in the troops?

There is a lot of odd things here. My family has land out west. Water rights, grazing rights, and land rights have been the cause of many, many range wars over the years. But I have never, and I mean never, seen a case where a person who did not have the rights to a parcel be allowed to have free use for decades without any action by the BLM jack boots. I have also never seen BLM and the fedgov act like this!

There is something very odd here. Very odd. For starters there is the little tidbit about one of Reid’s boys wanting to put solar panels on the land (which is odd because the BLM has rejected similar projects near home). Then their is the fact they call out a small army, shut down cell phones, and start shooting cattle. In my experience (and yes I have seen it) they send in guys to grab the cattle, and either impound them or sell them for the back fees and penalties. They don’t shoot them.

To be honest I don’t trust either party in this.

Is there any way to find out when Harry will be at his home or in his Las Vegas office? A “little” protest is in order.

Please let me be clear though. I do not like where this is headed, as I believe you too do not like where this situation is headed. I hate the thought of people dying but even Thomas Jefferson said his famous quote of ‘The Tree of Liberty Must Be Watered From Time to Time’ and that means bloodshed. Once shooting starts and if enough people fall through the cracks being murdered and this does get out of hand, innocent people will be killed. I always hate it when innocent people are murdered. Guess my Daddy raised me to be that way. Am glad Daddy did raise me that way. Have never had to shoot anyone. Prayers it remains that way.

I raise you one better.

My family used to have (note past tense) a parcel of land. My family owned it outright, and had clear title to. A rather big name in the news business was buying up a lot of land to play rancher and bought the parcel that granted access to ours.

My cousin showed up one day to see a fence across the road that was leading to his land. He opened it, and was met by the sheriff on the way out.

Long story short, we lost that land because the previous owners and my cousin’s family never sat down and spelled out access rights. He was shut out, of his own land, and at the end of the day lost it (well, he did get a decent price for it) because of some legal trick that honestly would not have worked in most areas.

Land rights and grazing rights are very messy out west. Look at the old range wars (the last one recognized one ended with Tom Horn). In the homestead days, the ranchers would stake false claims to block access to “their” piece of government land, and then claim they needed to pay reduced fees because of the lack of access.

Have there been any freepers who suddenly stopped posting and were never heard from again? It’s a serious question.

You’d think if “they” made someone “disappear” they’d want everyone else to know.

I truly believe the “government”, whoever that is, will do whatever it wants.

You are both missing a key point. The Federal Government, the Sierra Club, and corrupt politicians have manipulated the Endangered Species Act, the Environmental Protection Act, and the BLM policies to vacate long standing grazing rights and water rights which have long been sacrosanct in the West.

That is what is going on here. Someone wants the land, and they want Bundy and his cattle gone. The instrument of this mischief is the Desert Tortoise who gets along quite well with cattle but not so much with solar farms and suburban housing developments. The are arbitrarily restricting the size of his herd and jacking up the fees to run him off using the tortoise as their legal battering ram. This is how Reid has been operating for years and why he is so powerful in Nevada. You screw with him, and he will take away your livlihood.

This dispute has been in the courts for years and that’s where it belongs. Do you wonder why after all of these years we suddenly have the BLM doing a reenactment of the Normandy invasion? It’s because Harry Reid’s son has cut a deal with a Chinese company to build a solar farm and they want that land NOW.

Very good. I agree "we" really do not know all the facts and i agree with you using my term, nothing about this is passing the smell test. On either side.

I can not imagine any reason to bring in 200 armed personnel with snipers to "begin" the process of removing cows. But ok, so they want to protect the hands doing the deed from an angry rancher. But someone needs to explain why a "First Amendment" zone."

Obviously this is not being done by a "court order" or else law enforcement or the sheriff office would be involved. No one is under threat of arrest. It "appears" BLM just removing property off their property. Unfortunately, the neighbor next door feels he has a rightful claim. And a claim most of us here believes to be legitimate regardless of what some corrupt judge rules..

Friend I agree with you about that.

Though I don’t think it is the Sierra club, I think it may be some Chinese firm (as you stated). I do wonder about the the timing and escalation. If they keep it in the courts, Mr Bundy will run out of money before they do.

My question is who is on Mr Bundy’s side? This is a message to someone, and it isn’t about the ranch.

“After more than two years of secret negotiations beginning in 2009, lawmakers in Clark County, Nevada, unanimously agreed to sell 9,000 acres of public land to ENN for the bargain price of just $4.5 million ($500 per acre) in December 2011.

The Las Vegas Review-Journal questioned the “steep discount” ENN received for the land, which had been previously appraised for between $30 million and $39 million. The arrangement also included a bundle of tax incentives for ENN.

Reid, who reportedly helped secure a series of state and federal waivers as part of the deal, was actively involved in the negotiations with ENN. In April 2011, he led a delegation of senators to China, where the lawmakers met with senior Chinese officials and toured a number of green energy facilities, including the ENN headquarters in Langfang, China.

Upon his return, Reid called on the United States to pursue “new opportunities to collaborate on and advance clean-energy deployment here and abroad.”

Several months later, ENN chairman Wang Yusuo spoke at Reid’s clean energy summit, calling for a “more open and comprehensive” partnership between China and the United States on green energy.

ENN hired Richard Bryan, a Democrat who served with Reid in the U.S. Senate from 1989 to 2001, to represent the company in negotiations with state and federal officials. Reid’s son Rory is a partner at Bryan’s law firm.

“Senator Reid has actually gone to China, has actually had visits with the chairman of ENN, the entire global enterprise, has actually taken a look at some of their developments there,” Bryan said of Reid’s involvement. “It would seem to me that Senator Reid would exercise his persuasive powers on behalf of the state of Nevada.”

Wang’s company wants to build a 720-megawatt solar farm, research park, and thin-film solar panel manufacturing facility in southern Nevada, and has said it expects to spend between $4 billion and $6 billion on the project. That is at least half the $8 billion ENN plans to invest in green energy in the United States over the next decade.

The project is threatened, however, because NV Energy—Nevada’s largest utility provider—has said it is not in the market for renewable energy at this time, citing the higher costs of solar power and the fact that it has already exceeded the state-mandated quota for renewable sources through 2014.

Reid has responded by badmouthing NV Energy and threatening to have one of its coal-fired power plants shut down.”

My question is who is on Mr Bundy’s side?

That's a good question. He has decided to fight because he hasn't got much to lose. His actions represent an opportunity to drive a stake through the heart of the abuse of the EPA and the ESA, but our politicians haven't got the stomach for that kind of fight.
