Goodbye tea party, hello big tent
Washington Post ^ | April 11, 2014 | By Jennifer Rubin

Posted on 04/11/2014 3:01:13 PM PDT by Oldeconomybuyer

Say what you will about Sens. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) and Ted Cruz (R-Tex.), but they know a train wreck when they see it. They also know when to separate themselves from the cranks and the losers on the right. Although both supported the shutdown and were heartily supported by tea party groups in their own Senate races, neither one has endorsed Matt Bevin in Kentucky, Milton Wolf in Kansas or Chris McDaniel in Mississippi. In fact, Cruz’s office confirms he hasn’t endorsed anyone in the primaries.

There are a few important lessons here. First, neither one of these guys wants to be associated with, or take responsibility for, any tea party wipeouts if they can possibly avoid it.

Second, this suggests Bevin, McDaniel and Wolf are so far out there not even the two most conservative senators will endorse them.

And finally, this reinforces our point that within Congress and the GOP as a whole there is more unity than the mainstream media portrays as the tea party devolves into a very fringe group backed by D.C. money-making operations.

The big tent is back.

The GOP in DC has a death wish.

It was most evident at the 2012 convention when they blocked out all opposition...from the Paul liberatian wing to the tea party base. They place wore over winning.

In other words, "I wish."

Democrats don’t treat their voters like domestic abuse victims but Republicans will eagerly beat the crap out of its Conservative base then expect them to vote for them.

The GOP is quite dysfunctional.

Wacko, far-left extremists like Mike Dickinson in VA are embraced, feted...grapes fed to him by naked liberal women even. But when a Republican dares be conservative OH NOOOOO WE CAN’T HAVE THAT...what about bipartisanship and reaching across the aisle???

Bevin’s problem has been money from the beginning. He hasn’t any and McConnell has his own printing press.

So far, despite this article, Bevin has made one misstep. McConnell, on the other hand, has chosen Duke of Kentucky in basketball, has slyly endorsed everything from massive spending to obamacare to amnesty. He uses the senate rules to look innocent, but he’s guilty as sin.

Didn’t Jennifer Rubin once pretend to be a conservative journalist? What happened?

Maybe Rick Perry called her heartless and she has been trying to prop up his failed bid since.

“I’m proud to endorse my good friend Konni for State Senate. She’s a tireless, unwavering warrior for the conservative cause. Konni is a fighter and will serve the people of Texas well. I urge voters in her district to support her.” Ted Cruz. Yes, it is a state senate seat.

someone needs to ask that stupid bitch to name some Dem incumbents and who they have endorsed in a Fem primary

Now, now, she's the WaPo's favorite "conservative", replacing the hugely fraudulent megaliar Dave Weigel, who wasn't so much "outed" as "splattered" by Tucker Carlson and a few others.

Jennifer Rubin, someone totted up, is really there for us conservatives .... 53% of the time. On every issue involving Librat New Math fantasies and gross vote-buying, she's on top of it.

Just don't run any of that Trans-Appalachian "America" crap at her. Apple pie, baseball, patriotism, hunting, the Bill of Rights. <yawwwn>

She's civilized, don't you know.

Mrs. Rubin’s little princess, Jenny, is worried about the GOP again. She’s just trying to help them win elections. LOL! The “big tent” crap is a myth.

I read about 100 Washington Post comments on Jennifer Rubin's column.

As expected, more than 90% are from the Left Wing.

But, the quality of the comments is shockingly poor.

First, most of them would fail a test of basic writing skills.

Worse, I did not come across even one original, or humorous, or insightful thought.

It's just endless repetition of Democratic Party talking points:

(1) Koch Brothers
(2) Cruz and Rand Paul are evil
(3) The 47%
(4) The George W. Bush Administration

For sure, Free Republic comments are not perfect.

But I rarely leave these pages without learning something or laughing out loud.

If WaPo is representative of the average Left Wing blog, well, that is borderline pitiful.

What this article is saying is:

"Goodbye tea party, hello big tent teat"

"The big tent teat is back"

Is that so, or is this B. S.? Hmm?

McDaniel is a serious candidate and should not be compared to Matt Bevin or Milton Wolf.
