Michael Reagan: Shut Up Tea Party, Your Candidates Are Kooks
http://www.westernjournalism.com ^ | april 10, 2014 | michael reagan

The Tea Party zealots who haven’t learned from their mistakes in 2010 and 2012 are trying their best to screw up the GOP’s chances to win the Senate this fall.

Where does the Tea Party find these people to run in primaries? Most important, why do they offer them up as legitimate Republican candidates?

The Tea Party bosses have been listening to too much talk radio. They seem to think that what makes a good Republican candidate is someone who sounds like a talk radio host.

But talk radio is all about bombast and attracting callers, not about winning elections.

If Republicans are going to win general elections in 2014 and beyond, we’ve got to put up principled conservative candidates who sound like senators, congressmen, and governors — not kooks.

We stand for what we believe in and maybe lose or we abandon principle and lose either way. Not a difficult choice.

FOAD Mikey. You shame your father.

Talk about jumping the shark.

If anything, these attacks just keep solidifying my inclination to give my votes and support EXCLUSIVELY to tea-party candidates. The rest of the GOP and their “establishment” toadies can go burn in hell. I look upon them with the same revulsion I used to reserve only for big-government, lefty Dems.

I like Paul and Cruz, and would vote for either of them. But, I don’t see where either has a track record of making their ideas law.

Like zer0bummer had any background before he crammed communism down America's throat??? The pendulum must now swing back equally as far.

I looked at Michael Reagan’s Wiki biography, and he sounds like one messed-up, unhappy individual. Probably not somebody you want to take advice from.

he has a point.

many of these so called tea party opportunists are just opportunists who have zero chance of winning an election or obtaining any meaningful campaign donations.

look at primaries where the incumbent rinos are in no fear whatsoever of losing their primaries.

Primaries are there for a reason. It also weeds out the dead enders.

I realized Michael Reagan was a kook when he endorsed pro- ILLEGAL alien governor RINO Rick Perry for president. He also joined Perry in endorsing Ted Cruz opponent, David Dewhurst. In doing so, Reagan has rendered himself a punchline and proven that is not to be taken seriously. But I would imagine RINO Rick Perry devotees still love him.

Now we know what Michael Reagan thinks of the people who have listened to his radio programs over the years. He thinks they are kooks.

I don’t think you understand my point, nor do I think you understand his. He talked about O Donnell and Angle - not primary losers. They WON primaries. And second, I don’t mind a discussion of this issue, but “Shut up” in the headline, and no mention of the abject failures of the Rove machine - make for an inaccuarate and despicable article.

You should be able to see that. This was no reasonable piece by MR.

Different issue.

If we want to win in primaries we have to have articulate WELL FUNDED conservatives. Not plastic pretenders or just plain stupid candidates.

Too many tea party candidates (one is too many) are the kook neighbor down the street running for president.

The Tea Party zealots who haven’t learned from their mistakes in 2010 and 2012 are trying their best to screw up the GOP’s chances to win the Senate this fall.

And the lesson most of us learned was that Boehner, McCain, Graham, McConnell, Cantor, Rubio are willing to sell out to make the democrats happy. Yeah, those Tea Party Zealots are at fault. They didn't go along with the corruption.

Yes, and he's still selling email addresses XXXXX@reagan.com despite the fact they he's being sued for doing so (fraud, conspiracy to commit fraud, conversion, breach of partnership agreement, breach of fiduciary duty, promissory estoppel and unjust enrichment)

We are in primary season.

Odonnells failings are for candidate school classes. (politics and elections magazine is still good for that)

Elections have a whole industry for candidates. Tea Party candidates better get to these schools or they will be crushed like any noob.

(the league of women voters offer good classes. Just remember to listen rather than engage in that arena)
