A controversy in Waldron led to a parade of Confederate flags Tuesday evening to protest a ban implemented by officials at Waldron High School.
Students who displayed the Confederate flag flying on the back of their pickup trucks were asked by school officials to remove them while on school property.
The superintendent, Gary Wayman, said there have been complaints and some consider the display "offensive." Wayman said the students were flying the Confederate flags from the back of poles attached to their trucks.
There were mixed feelings among students and others who gathered Tuesday to fly a parade of flags in protest.
Dakota Sims, an organizer of the parade in response to the ban, told 40/29 News "It's America, this is a free state. Like that flag represents freedom. Just like that American flag represents freedom. People died for both of them. Why not fly both of them?"
Another student said he supports his friends that are protesting, but felt that the flags could send the wrong message.
A Facebook page called "Scott County 746" was created with posts from supporters and others in the community.
They should go to Virginia and get up in the faces of some state troopers.
They have the battle flag on their uniform state patch.
Free speech and guns are as close to we get to absolutes in this society. "Congress shall make no law" and "shall not be infringed." These educrats have no right to proscribe free speech.

The “school district” owns nothing. They are the appointed stewards of the school. The kids attending and their parents and other citizens of that district own the school and are the PROPERTY OWNERS with property rights.
Ha! Banning ANYTHING is the perfect way to get teenagers to do it. I’ll bet most of the protesters had to go out and buy flags to fly after the ban.

The educators don't own the school property, the taxpayers own it. You and I own it. These idiots work for you. We own them. It's time we started acting like it instead of surrendering your Liberty to their political agenda.
That parking lot belongs to the students as much as it does to the faculty.

Public school’s officials are offensive. The Rebel flag is not racist, it is about states rights.
The school property is owned by the school board, which is voted by us the people. The board is not the rulers of students parents are.
Just out of curiosity, what’s the odds that a kid from Waldron, Arkansas, USA has ancestors who were on the confederate side during the Civil War?
Do you think descendants of WWI and WWII German soldiers should be permitted to honor their dead at ceremonies in their graveyards?
And who fought honorably out of a sense of duty and honor and country?
FWIW white employees of northern industrialists were often worse off than slaves in the south. The industrialists could literally work a man to death and then just hire a replacement. If a slave owner worked his slave to death he was going to have to pay a lot of money for a replacement. Workers comp laws didn't come into effect until the 20th century.
These white southern boys who fought and died under the Confederate battle flag were fighting for their honor and for their liberty. They may have been on the "wrong side of history" but for the most part they were not slave owners nor did they hope to become slave owners. They were honorable and brave men. But today even the honorable heroes of the South are treated as pariahs and any hint of Southern Pride now carries with it the taint of racism. The fact of the matter is that you can be a proud black man or hispanic man, or oriental man or native american, but you can't be a proud white man. If you are white, then you are required to hang your head in shame and apologize for being a member of a race that is on the wrong side of history.
Thomas Jefferson is such a dilemma for liberals. They want to elevate him for their (wrong) take on his rejection of religion, they need to pillory him for being a slave owner (sally whatshername), and they want to both love him and hate him for the revolution...love because of the word revolution...hate because of the word freedom.
