Anti-Maidan activists have detained a foreign national in Kharkov’s Beketova Street and posted the video footage on the web.
The same video features a group of aggressive people using strong language while interrogating an unidentified person wearing the uniform of the Sokol (Falcon) police task force.
The unknown man, pinned to the ground, speaks English and says he is a US citizen.
According to the activists, this proves the earlier reports that US mercenaries have indeed arrived to take part in a military operation in the southeast of Ukraine and that mercenaries have indeed changed into the uniforms of one of Ukraine’s elite police task forces.
I hope that this is a fake.
Putin’s propagandist media have been making disinformation. This would be an easy one to make.

If another video is posted with verifiable info about this man then the story will prove to be true...if not it is fake.
If he is an American mercenary they will want to show the world proof.
I'd expect some Ukrainian expats to return to fight for the old country, as well Americans who understand that the Russian threat remains the same whether the country is run by Romanovs, Bolsheviks or post-Cold War empire builders. American volunteers formed Eagle Squadrons during WWII to fight for Britain, before the official entry of the US into the war.
If real—they will parade him before the cameras soon. I hope its not true but if it is—Its an Obama plan that back fired—Possible but I can’t see O-man being that stupid.
I agree that we need to wait and see, but I find it unlikely that this American mercenary, if that’s what he is, simply decided to go take a walk.

Most likely he’s a PSD (Personal Security Detachment) member. They are private contractors working under contract with various international organizations, companies and governments. They most certainly are not ‘agents’ of Obama or any other government agency.
PSDs are akin to private security guards. They are defensive and their contracts should state it. If he had an offensive contract he would not have been captured without some bodies lying around as he would have been contractually authorized to initiate deadly force if threatened. Now, start treating a few of them poorly and see if their company doesn’t insist on a change of contract.
