Primary Challenger Airs First Ad Against ‘Liberal’ Boehner Ally (Idaho alert)

Attorney Bryan Smith went on the air with a new television ad calling his primary rival, Rep. Mike Simpson, R-Idaho, a “liberal.”

Smith is challenging Simpson, an eight-term incumbent and top ally of Speaker John A. Boehner, for the 2nd District in one of the cycle’s top primary battles. Smith also boasts the backing of several conservative outside groups, including the Club for Growth and Senate Conservatives Fund.

The spot features an edited clip of Simpson saying, “Let me tell you about earmarks. I’ve always been a supporter of earmarks.”

The Smith campaign has reserved $25,000 in the Twin Falls and Idaho Falls media markets for the spot. While that’s a small figure, Idaho is a cheap place to buy airtime for radio and television.

This is a race we need to make a priority of. Mike Simpson is the epitome of “Establishment hack.” Bryan Smith wants to make the U.S. a better place where the Constitution is adhered to.

The Chamber of Commerce wants to create business for immigration lawyers fighting for amnesty, while painting Smith as an evil lawyer.

Idaho is one of the most conservative states in the Union, if not THE most conservative. That we have a GOPe clown like Simpson representing the 2nd district is just wrong.

C'mon 2nd District Idahoans - let's get behind Bryan!

Dr. Thorne, maybe you can start a Bryan Smith ping list and keep us up on how this is shaping.

I predict that Idaho’s political landscape will look a little, maybe a lot, different after the May 6 primary.

In addition to Smith running against Simpson, we have State Senator Russ Fulcher running against Gov Butch Otter.

Idaho County Commissioner Jim Chmelik is running against Lt Gov Brad Little, and Todd Hatfield is running against semi-incumbent (?) Woolf.

Chris Troupis is running against the most worthless Attorney General Idaho has ever had, Lawrence Wasden.

Our Sec’y of State Ben Ysursa is retiring, and hopefully Lawerence Denney will take that job. There are two or three others looking for that job.

Finally, if we can get John Eynon elected as Sup’t of Public Instruction we have a good chance of pulling out of Common Core. He is the only one of two or three others who opposes CC.

Any one of these people taking office will move Idaho’s government more conservative. A clean sweep would be an opportunity made in heaven.

All in all, it could be a good spring.

You and your friends should form a squad of volunteers passing out yard signs and telling hteir other friends and relatives. A little of this could go a long way.
