I was going to say this is an insult to their readers, then I remembered this is the New Yorker, and it’s not possible to insult the intelligence of New Yorkers because they don’t have any.

Despite its title, The New Yorker has long been intended as a national magazine. Its target readership seems to be pseudosophisticated leftist snobs all around the country, the movers and shakers of the 'Rat Party.

Yeah, OK. People who fancy themselves “as good as” New Yorkers. Too dumb to be dumb?
