Just as everything to do with churches, we should just go ahead and pay the taxes, we tea party types should just go ahead and pay the taxes. Any tax exempt privilege is a benefit that can be manipulated.
In order to maintain free speech and religious freedom, we need to forget about the 401(c)3. Then we are free to act politically if we so desire instead of walking a tightrope to avoid paying taxes.
Jesus said “Render unto Caesar what is Caesar’s.” and paid the taxes.
By 401(c)3 we hamstring ourselves to not being able to preach against government mandated queer admiration, government mandated murder, government mandated confiscation of personal property etc.
Pay the taxes like everyone else (save the liberal orgs that are in the government’s pocket anyway) and you are not in the government’s pocket.
Do you believe paying taxes would stop the persecution? They still have OSHA, the EPA, all sorts of rules and regulations. It isn’t about taxes. It is about anyone who opposes Obama.
Remember what Valerie said:

Catherine Engelbrecht, founder of True the Vote who was targeted by the IRS, FBI and other agencies, filed a formal ethics complaint against Rep. Elijah Cummings (D-MD). Engelbrecht explained her reasoning on Thursday’s “The Kelly File” on the Fox News Channel, accusing the Maryland Democrat of trying to intimidate her by causing the targeting.
Cummings on three separate occasions sent letters with his title on the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee stating that he had concerns and felt an investigation should be open on True the Vote.

If this had happened to a liberal group the New York Times would be all over it - and Hollywood would be pumping out a movie. Shame on the MSM and Hollywood for their bias and hatred of traditional Americans.
The good people in the FBI (if there are any good people left in the FBI) should ask themselves if this is how they would treat a liberal political group. And if they say, 'yes' then they need to call FOX news and tell them of any liberal group that's been treated this badly. Because we think they're lying.

I fear the power of an unrestrained bureaucracy more than I fear the power of an, at least nominally, representative government. As evidence, I offer Lois Lerner (IRS) and Gina McCarthy (EPA).
While the people that make the rules still must pander to "We The People" there exists some semblance of freedom.
Nameless, faceless bureaucracies need not fear the people and will act accordingly - that is why we have a representative government and not an aristocracy. Term limits would result in a de facto aristocracy.
The best plan for organizing a society is still our Constitution, as written, and most amendments beyond the first ten have been mistakes.
