EGGS

Muslim moms and dads in Dearborn, Mich. are upset after students received flyers promoting an Easter Egg hunt at a local Presbyterian church.

The parents say the egg hunt "violates the U.S. Constitution".

The Muslims told the Detroit Free-Press that they were concerned about the religious implications of Cherry Hill Presbyterian Church’s “Eggstravaganza!”

They were also "troubled" by images of a bunny rabbit.

I think even the word Easter has nothing to do with Christianity, though we use it. I believe it’s some ancient pagan god of fertility, so some such.

Bunnies and coloured eggs and chocolate....harmless and non-religious.

America and Canada should be brave and call it what it is - Resurrection Day. But that wouldn’t be possible, seeing as we’ve collectively lost our roots and don’t stand up for ourselves and our Judeo-Christian heritage.

I remember back when I worked in Dearborn (2004-2006) near the Melvendale/South Detroit area when around noon the call to prayer would be blasted over loudspeakers on a daily basis. Don’t really remember any Christians crying about it.

Maybe they should have back then.

It was probably already too late.

As a Christian, I do NOT know what the significance of the Easter Bunny is. IOW, as far as I know, THERE IS NOTHING RELIGIOUS about the Easter Bunny!

Even if there is some religious significance, Their complaint is laughable, and only further demonstrates their intolerance and ignorance of our laws.

Can someone please tell me how the Easter Bunny is religious?

Dearborn, Michigan.
Wonder how much muslim promotion is going on there. Are they interrupting the school day with prayers?
Nothing for nothing, my kids get scared when they see a muslim woman dressed in all black peering out of two little eye slits.

Easter Bunny origin goes back to pre-Christian Anglo-Saxon history. The Pagans celebrated the goddess Eastre, the goddess of fertility of springtime. Her earthly symbol was a rabbit.
When the Ango-Saxons converted to Christianity the pagan holiday was combined in with the Christian celebration of Jesus’ resurrection, and was called Easter.

Sedition against non-Mohammedan governments is a central tenet of Mohammedanism.

Qur'an (33:36) - "It is not fitting for a Believer, man or woman, when a matter has been decided by Allah and His Messenger to have any option about their decision."

Qur'an (45:21) - "What! Do those who seek after evil ways think that We shall hold them equal with those who believe and do righteous deeds,- that equal will be their life and their death? Ill is the judgment that they make." [Unbelievers are not equal to Muslims.]

Qur'an (39:9) - "Are those who know equal to those who know not?"

Qur'an (4:141) - "...And never will Allah grant to the unbelievers a way (to triumphs) over the believers." [This is at odds with democracy, which allows anyone to serve in a position of power over others regardless of religious belief.]

Qur'an (63:8) - "...might (power) belongeth to Allah and to His messenger and to the believers;" [ie. not to anyone else.]

Qur'an (5:49) - "So judge between them by that which Allah hath revealed, and follow not their desires, but beware of them lest they seduce thee from some part of that which Allah hath revealed unto thee" [Allah's Qur'an takes priority over the desires of the people. A democratic nation is by nature one that is not governed by Islamic law, meaning that a Muslim citizen would have divided loyalty. It's clear from this verse which side he must choose.]

Qur'an (4:59) - "O you who believe! Obey Allah and obey the Messenger and those in authority from among you..." [Obedience is strictly limited to a government drawn from believers, not from the broader community. This verse has also been used to justify submission to autocratic rule, however oppressive it may by. As an Arab tradition put is: "tyranny is better than anarchy."]

Qur'an (9:3) - "...Allah and his messenger are free from obligation to the unbelievers..." [Muhammad used this "revelation" to dissolve a standing treaty and chase non-Muslims from their homes if they wouldn't accept Islam.]

From the Hadith:

Muslim (19:4294) - "When you meet your enemies who are polytheists [Christians...], invite them to three courses of action. If they respond to any one of these, you also accept it and withhold yourself from doing them any harm. Invite them to (accept) Islam; if they respond to you, accept it from them and desist from fighting against them ... If they refuse to accept Islam, demand from them the Jizya. If they agree to pay, accept it from them and hold off your hands. If they refuse to pay the tax, seek Allah's help and fight them"

Bukhari (88:219) - "Never will succeed such a nation as makes a woman their ruler."

Bukhari (89:251) - Allah's Apostle said, "Whoever obeys me, obeys Allah, and whoever disobeys me, disobeys Allah, and whoever obeys the ruler I appoint, obeys me, and whoever disobeys him, disobeys me."

Sedition is also unconstitutional.

18 U.S. Code § 2385 - Advocating overthrow of Government

Whoever knowingly or willfully advocates, abets, advises, or teaches the duty, necessity, desirability, or propriety of overthrowing or destroying the government of the United States or the government of any State, Territory, District or Possession thereof, or the government of any political subdivision therein, by force or violence, or by the assassination of any officer of any such government; or

Whoever, with intent to cause the overthrow or destruction of any such government, prints, publishes, edits, issues, circulates, sells, distributes, or publicly displays any written or printed matter advocating, advising, or teaching the duty, necessity, desirability, or propriety of overthrowing or destroying any government in the United States by force or violence, or attempts to do so; or

Whoever organizes or helps or attempts to organize any society, group, or assembly of persons who teach, advocate, or encourage the overthrow or destruction of any such government by force or violence; or becomes or is a member of, or affiliates with, any such society, group, or assembly of persons, knowing the purposes thereof—

Shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than twenty years, or both, and shall be ineligible for employment by the United States or any department or agency thereof, for the five years next following his conviction.

If two or more persons conspire to commit any offense named in this section, each shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than twenty years, or both, and shall be ineligible for employment by the United States or any department or agency thereof, for the five years next following his conviction.

As used in this section, the terms “organizes” and “organize”, with respect to any society, group, or assembly of persons, include the recruiting of new members, the forming of new units, and the regrouping or expansion of existing clubs, classes, and other units of such society, group, or assembly of persons.

This is sufficient reason to ban Mohammedan immigration, at the very least.

They got an invitation to an Easter Egg Hunt...

Uh...geee....don’t have the guts to explain to you kid they CAN’T GO, because it violates YOUR religion?

It is not YOUR religious/secularist practice, so don’t go! They do not have the right to interfere with the event.

Is this a joke? They are saying an Easter event being held at a CHURCH violates the constitution?

The thread title is somewhat misleading. The issue isn't the Easter Egg hunt, or where it's being held.

The issue is that flyers for it were handed out at a public school.

The truth is, I (and probably a whole heck of a lot of fellow FREEPERS) would be ticked as all get out if one of my kids came home from school with a "Falafel and Hummus Wednesday" at the local mosque flyer.

The constitution prohibits churches from inviting the general public to their events?

I think they were complaining about flyers for a religion-associated event being passed out at public school.

But their principled objections will vanish when it's time to invite people to Eid celebrations, or to visit the local mosque.
