French Socialism Melting Like the Wicked Witch
American Thinker ^ | 04/02/2014 | Chriss Street

French President and Socialist Party leader Francois Hollande announced the resignation of Prime Minister Jean-Marc Ayrault and his replacement by hard-line anti-immigration and anti-crime crusader Manuel Valls. The action demonstrates the ruling Socialist Party’s desperation to reinvent itself after being trounced in municipal elections over the weekend.  As Europe’s economic malaise continues, even the Left is trying to transform itself into nationalists. But French socialism is melting like the Wicked Witch of the East in the Wizard of Oz.

Manuel Valls represents the extreme right wing of the Socialist Party and his rise to power announces the beginning of a radical turn for Europe’s Left.  When he refers to his policies as similar America’s Bill Clinton and Britain’s Tony Blair, he is directly attacking the collectivist bureaucracy of France that controls over 50% of the economy.

Valls has demands “economically realistic” economics for France based on a return to individual responsibilities and moving people off “National Solidarity”, the politically correct term for French welfare. He blames the record 11% unemployment on government interference in business and supports capitalist solutions that include cutting taxes and increasing the retirement age to 62 from 60 years old.

The move to name Valls is seen as a rejection of the Socialist Party’s political pandering to the 12% of French who are Muslims and often heavy users of lavish welfare state benefits.  Valls In his book “Down with the Old Socialism” declared support for immigration “quotas” and complained about Muslims being 60% of the prison population. He favors banning Muslim veils from universities, but supports the right of Jews to wear yarmulkes.  Valls publically stated he was “eternally attached to Israel”.

As someone of French ancestry pains me to see how far France has fallen

Since 1871 when defeated by Germany (Prussia) has been in decline

We are rocketing into the ground.

Kudos to the Europeans for devising a way to dump a government that is proven to be a failure. We are stuck with ours for a miserable 2 !/2 more years, which will allow our country’s domestic enemies plenty of time to destroy us.

The above paragraph is staggering. “The extreme right wing of the socialist party?!” Really. What’s that? Referring to Bill Clinton and Tony Blair as attacking collectivist bureaucracy?! Bill and Tony were right-wingers? Who knew?

“The extreme right wing of the socialist party?!” Really. What’s that?

That would be the heartless bunch that wants to limit welfare recipients to (sob) just ONE free house

This is something the liberal socialist democrats (I know redundant) in America just never learn, these policies never work and despite seeing them repeatedly fail in countries all around the world are still determined to destroy America with them.

Easy. The French are only smarter than American Democrats. This is an intraparty post-election foodfight in France, Vell is just the guy the Socialists hope can tamp down Martine LePen’s growing support.

The canary in the coalmine for the French Left is the region north of Paris along the Belgian border. When the Socialists and Communists don’t carry that area, they move off their traditional “National Solidarity” bs. At least temporarily.

Immigration and crime will be dealt with, because there is now a national consensus on those issues. Economic reform? Don’t hold your breath. The hope is by limiting immigration there will be significant enough cost containment to save the public welfare system. The government sector in France sucks up 60% of GDP. You can throw every person who’s immigrated to France for the past three generations out of the country and you still won’t save enough money to make a dent. France’s problem is structural— and there is no way the French are going to suck it up and endure hardship long enough to develop the skills necessary to compete with the Chinese, Japanese, Koreans, Germans or Americans on anything in the global economy. Hence their sale of submarines to Russia (despite Crimea and relate concerns in the Black Sea) and attempts to dislodge the US as the primary supplier of air defense weapons to Saudi Arabia.

Just be ready for the follow-on effects of French retrenchment on immigration. The Middle East and North Africa is overpopulated in relation to those countries’ productive economic capacity. They’ve used immigration to France and the UK as their overpopulation relief valve. France is threatening to shut down the pipeline and the UK isn’t far behind... now who would that leave? Think Hispanic immigration is contentious? Wait until Keith Ellison starts making noise about immigration for his Muslim brothers and sisters from Africa...

Well, they are purposely parasiting the system they want to destroy while they grow strong within that system.

They are smart, the west is not.

That isn’t true.

American republicans still believe that have friends and allies in elected republicans and the GOP.

They really couldn’t be more wrong if they tried.

The population of this country has been utterly fooled, and even when faced with obvious evidence of such, the population denies it, because its pride won’t allow it to admit it was fooled.

This is going to result in that population’s demise.
