LETTER: Suggestion: Don’t throw stones at Sarah Palin
The Lewistown Sentinel ^ | April 1, 2014 | Dave Semler, Reedsville

Posted on 04/01/2014 2:28:58 PM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

To the editor:

If ignorance is, indeed, bliss, then two recent callers to the Opinion Line must be among the happiest people on the planet.

The callers credited two statements as having been said by Sarah Palin. The callers are either uninformed, misinformed, or they simply don't care to tell the truth.

The first call cited Palin as having said she can see Russia from her house in Alaska. The problem is the comment was made by comedian Tina Fey in a comedy skit on Saturday Night Live, not by Sarah Palin. Snopes.com has the complete story.

The second call claimed that Palin confused our southeastern state of Georgia with the region of the former Soviet Union by the same name. Her confusion supposedly happened after Vladimir Putin ordered Russian troops into the region in 2008. Not only did she never make such an error, quite the opposite occurred.

In a campaign speech in October 2008, after Russia moved into neighboring Georgia, Palin remarked that because of then-Senator Obama's "indecision (his) response would only encourage Russia to invade Ukraine next" if he was to become president. Numerous websites verify this story.

Palin was mocked at the time for offering such an outlandish opinion. Fast forward to a few days ago and we see that Palin was quite accurate in her 2008 comments, hardly someone confused about geography.

Regardless of your reasons for not liking Sarah Palin, keep in mind she has no power over your life. Palin cannot raise your taxes. She cannot take away your right to own guns. She cannot force you to buy health insurance that you don't want or can't afford. She is a political commentator.

Our Open Line callers would be better served keeping a closer watch on a few mental giants of one particular party who do hold elected office, perhaps Nancy Pelosi, Maxine Waters, Sheila Jackson Lee, and even the president.

For example, Pelosi once said the "use of natural gas is much better than using fossil fuels." Obama, in a campaign speech, referenced this nation's "57" states. Then there was his brilliant display of his education from Columbia when he called our Marine Corps the Marine "Corpse." Similar misstatements by Waters and Lee could fill volumes.

To quote Ronald Reagan, "It isn't so much that liberals are ignorant. It's just that they know so many things that aren't so." Open Line callers included.

Either everyone in the the middle can’t decide on candidate and these are the two who shake out, the polled are responding to name recognition, or something. There is little overlap in the positions of either potential candidate.

Plain is definitely a Liberal Idiot magnet. She makes it so easy to identify the totally clueless.

It goes with this:

The late Christopher Hitchens once observed that “George Bush is stupid has become the joke that stupid people tell.”

.. the polled are responding to name recognition, or something.

Strikes me as somehow analogous to its being almost impossible nowadays, apparently as a result of consumer demand, to buy a product without the company name/logo blaring from every surface.

One is often left wondering how depleted the self-esteem must be of someone needing that sort of ostentation to feel 'better', or something.

Amazing all the stupid things she actually never said at all, (and all the stupid people who lap it all up without checking).

She’s one of their favorite whipping boys. They don’t WANT to know the truth and would figure out a way to justify their ignorant hate, even if they were accidentally exposed to the truth.

****************

IMO, Palin has the ability to become a magnet to both the Palin lovers and
the Palin haters. Not a lot of people have the talent to impact both sides of the
political spectrum but she does.

The reason anyone would dislike Sarah Palin is because she is all that they want to be and know they could never be. So they hate her for it and they must destroy her. Knock her down because stepping on her raises them up.
If you ever hear someone cutting her up, you can bet it's probably some fat, ugly woman, or some male who is useless to society. Regardless of their reason, stay away from them.

Huh? Dozens of people here have used the leftist claim that she only talks to people on Fox News. I’m confused.

OH WOW!
Good for you! Enjoy your dinner out!

I’ve set TIVO, but I might try to watch her LIVE and suffer through his monologue.

Oooh, I can’t wait to watch Sarah take those little Jimmy Fallon *gotcha’s* and send ‘em right back at him.

If these libs show hosts (Fallon, Rachael Ray, etc) were smart, they’d stay neutral, for the sake of their ratings. (Like Johnny Carson did. Dating myself, I know.)
