I could understand why the Israelis might want Pollard released.

What I can’t understand is why it should have any effect on the talks. No one is listening, especially on the Palestinian side.

If true it is very tacky and sad. A great power with legitimate influence does not debase itself in this manner.

.....Israelis might want Pollard released.....

Precisely the wrong move from our POV, as it will reinforce, at least in Arab eyes, the special relationship we have with Israel and destroy any pretense of honest brokerage. Besides, the Palestinians don't give a rat's ass what we do, or don't do. They'll use it for a temporary advantage, at best.

Plus, Israelis should not feel free to poke about in our closets. Of course they will, and vice versa. Get caught? Pay up.

Pollard dates back to an awkward period during which .... IMNVHO .... the Israelis were shopping stuff to the KGB to help them with their own problems at the time. OK! That's perfectly understandable ... but they got caught. Pollard pays.

We might be in the same league with the UK, Israel, NATO, etc., but we ain't exactly on the same team.

Zero will never release Pollard.

He’s just playing the same bluff as Clinton over and over.

The idea is that releasing Pollard would be throwing a bone to Netanyahu. He would have this "victory" to lessen the negative reaction from within his coalition for releasing another round of Palestinian prisoners. The Palestinians want their prisoners released and the peace talks will fall apart without that happening.

The only way democrats know how to operate is through bribes of one sort or another.

Their programs and goals are usually so unpalatable that bribes are the only way they can get them implemented.

There is no better example than Obamacare.

Bibi should get Obama to release Pollard and then refuse to release the terrorists.
