In which case Paul is doomed. The war hustlers are everywhere. We need another Eisenhower.
If Jeb Bush or Christi Kream are the nominees, a lot of conservatives will stay home on election day. Instead of donating to the GOP, use that money for ammo and supplies for your bunker.
“We need another Eisenhower. “
Isn’t that the truth. The old General knew how to use our strength while keeping us out of war. IIRC he ended the Korean War by simply making it known that he was willing to use nuclear weapons if the Chinese didn’t reign in North Korea.
Ike was a President who believed that sending American troops to fight a land war in Asia was a serious mistake. Advice that John Kennedy and Lyndon Johnson should have heeded. But they didn’t, and as usual it was little people, average Americans, who ended up paying the price in blood for that one.
The neocon gang is the polar opposite of Dwight Eisenhower. Almost none of them have any military experience, and certainly not in combat arms. What I do notice is that some of them imagine themselves to be heirs of Winston Churchill, and they are dreaming of the chance to send the American army to win themselves glory.
Think there are a couple of words missing.
Let's try this:"... from former Florida governor (and certain LOSER) Jeb Bush to New Jersey Governor (and probable LOSER) Chris Christie..."
You’re very welcome. :)
He supports a strong national defense, about this there is no doubt.

Really? I cannot believe that someone who advocates amnesty for illegal aliens has the defense of our nation at heart.
Because they’re too lazy to fight (and die) for their own existence. They want to co-opt lots of goys to shed blood for their interests.
This is why I increasingly think conservatives should stop supporting Israel. If the vast majority of Jews are going to vote for the Democrats, then let the Democratic Party own the problem of Israel and the wars to prop up Israel. That’s where the Jews are voting ... and those votes aren’t about to come back to the GOP for doing their bidding.
So give them what they want, good and hard.
Eisenhower had the right vision for both foreign policy and immigration policy. He maintained a strong defense, kept us out of needless wars, and wasn't afraid to deport illegal invaders. As you say, his good sense, realism, and honor were the polar opposites of neoconservatism.
McCain wasn't always on board with the neocons. I didn't follow his politics very closely until he became a Presidential contender in 2000, but I vaguely remember his being on the side of restraint in foreign policy earlier in his career. He signed on to the neoconservative foreign policy agenda opportunistically, like so many of his other current positions.
