That brings in really why we should have an English as the official language in this country and that is a whole debate in itself. We respect other cultures but shouldn’t forget American culture.
The USA required Louisiana to do exactly that in the day.
And if amnesty ever came in, that could really skew all the statistics unless we are maintaining that demographics-wise, we are just recording people’s ethnicity different now.
I used to work with a Cuban man who had light brown hair, blue eyes, a light complexion, and a southern accent. I bet he’s shocked that the minority pimps consider him non-white.

When I’ve gone to tea party events, it’s pretty much all seniors, and they’ve lived their life, but they are trying to help their children and grandchildren.
Then again, I see people who are hippie liberals, and I see how smug they are, and what destruction they are leaving in their wake, and I just wish they would wake from their delusions and try and stem the tide that they have created.
It doesn’t help either that the Catholic churches in my area are all in for social justice and open borders. Compassion for the immigrant, they plead and want us to pray for them. No Way!
You should not have said that aloud. Now they are going to fly in big groups of Somalis or Palestinians.
Better advice: Teach the next generation to value freedom, regardless of their race, so that they will also be against a bloated and oppressive government.
Please let us in Arizona join, even though Tucson has some rabid and corrupt liberals, there are lots of good conservatives in the adjoining areas.

I am in California. 40% non-Hispanic white.
White people have been a minority in California for years. But wait, it gets even better!
Over half of all grade school children in California are Hispanic. So not only are non-Hispanic whites a minority, but Hispanics are guaranteed to be a majority in 30 years.

Keep in mind that it is the white segment which pays most of the taxes which keep the Welfare State afloat. What happens when the number of taxpayers drops below the critical point?
I live in California and I don’t consider Mexicans and Hispanics to be “white”. Not any more.
Without a doubt they are generally all some combination of Spanish mixed with Native American. They run the gamut from pure Spanish stock to pure Indian stock, and everything Mestizo in between. Many appear as “white” as any western European.
Culturally they are not “white” and that is why I do not consider them “white”. When you get cities with more than 50% Mexicans, you get a very different culture than the melting pot of western European whites in most cities.
For that reason, “white” has come to mean “non-hispanic” white and is valid.
Same here in Calfornia.
Hispanics are 52% of the student population.
Non-hispanic whites are 29% of the student population.

You have cited the exceptions that prove the rule. The general principle is still true. That Thomas Sowell is a brilliant black economist does not mean that black children are flooding CPA programs.

the point wasn’t that Mexicans are not different in some ways, the point was the government changed how it defined “white” and that has shifted the numbers a lot more than has actually occurred.
In the 1970’s just after the government decided to start counting Mexicans separate from whites, the percentage of Mexicans was only 5% (this is the only data point we have on how many were here to begin with since they weren’t counted sparately before then). In the latest 2010 census they were up to 10%. So basically, their percentage of the population doubled over those 40 years. Which is pretty impressive until you look at how much the Asian population has grown, which is now 10 TIMES what it was. And yet no one is mentioning the Asian invasion... or that if demographic trends continue.. the country will be majority Asian by ________.
