AP: Three years after US-NATO intervention, Libya is a failed state
HotAir ^ | 03-22-2014 | Morrissey

An anniversary passed this week that went almost completely unremarked — and for good reason. March 17th marked the three-year anniversary of the UN Security Council resolution imposing a no-fly zone over Libya to stop the Moammar Qaddafi regime from attacking rebel-held Benghazi and Ajdabiya, and the three-year anniversary on the 19th of the NATO war on Libya. French, British, and American planes began bombarding the Qaddafi regime, an air war that would continue for months — while Barack Obama refused to request Congressional approval for it. Later, Obama would claim that Libya represented the smart model of Western intervention.

If so, why did these anniversaries pass unremarked? The Associated Press report on the status of Libya today gives a very good answer, although it is not written as such. Libya has become a failed state, where the government’s writ doesn’t run outside of its capital, and not even everywhere within that. Not only is it a dangerous place, but it is a danger to the surrounding nations in north Africa too:

Libya, where hundreds of militias hold sway and the central government is virtually powerless, is awash in millions of weapons with no control over their trafficking. The arms free-for-all fuels not only Libya’s instability but also stokes conflicts around the region as guns are smuggled through the country’s wide-open borders to militants fighting in insurgencies and wars stretching from Syria to West Africa.

It wasn’t a failed state when Muammar al-Gaddafi was running the place. Obama should have kept his nose out of there because it was none of his business.

The obvious thread from all of this — weren’t our American founding fathers brilliant? Certainly we had a couple of major stumbles along the way.

I know that it is a cliche but it makes America extra special and something that we must preserve.

Kaddafi had quarreled with the Muslim fundamentalists, and had befriended black Africans—which his fellow Arabs all over North Africa and the Middle East absolutely hated.

Obama accomplished his mission, which was to destroy a rather crazy dictator who was keeping the Muslims under control, and turning it over to al Qaeda and the Muslim Brotherhood.

After all, those are his pals.

Libyan civil war

As the 2011 Libyan civil war progressed, Rice made clear that the United States and the international community saw only one choice for Gaddafi and his aides: step down from power or face significant consequences. Rice offered some of the toughest rhetoric toward Gaddafi, blasting his denials of atrocities against his own citizens as “frankly, delusional”.

Several UN diplomats said that in a closed door meeting on April 28, Rice’s claims of Gaddafi’s atrocities included the issuance of Viagra to loyalists in order to further terrorize the population with sexual violence.[41][42] Together with National Security Council figure Samantha Power, who already supported military intervention, and Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton, who came to support it, the three overcame internal opposition from Defense Secretary Robert Gates, security adviser Thomas Donilon, and counterterrorism adviser John Brennan, to have the administration advance a UN proposal to impose a no-fly zone over Libya and authorize other military actions as necessary.[19][43]

On March 17, 2011, the UK, France and Lebanon joined Rice to vote for United Nations Security Council Resolution 1973 while Brazil, Germany, and India joined permanent Security Council members China and Russia in abstaining. Rice and Clinton played major roles in gaining approval for the resolution.[19][44] Clinton said that same day that establishing a no-fly zone over Libya would require the bombing of air defenses. Rice said that “we are interested in a broad range of actions that will effectively protect civilians and increase the pressure on the Gaddafi regime to halt the killing and to allow the Libyan people to express themselves in their aspirations for the future freely and peacefully”.[45]

In January 2012 after the Russian and Chinese veto of another Security Council resolution calling on Syrian President Bashar al-Assad to step down, Rice strongly condemned both countries, saying, “They put a stake in the heart of efforts to resolve this conflict peacefully”, adding that “we the United States are standing with the people of Syria. Russia and China are obviously with Assad.”[46] In her words, “the United States is disgusted that a couple of members of this Council continue to prevent us from fulfilling our sole purpose”.[47]

Some Security Council diplomats took issue with Rice’s negotiating style, calling it “rude” and overly blunt. According to David Rothkopf of Foreign Policy magazine, Rice is known for her “abrasiveness” but has the asset of a close relationship with the U.S. president. Human rights activists took issue with Rice and U.S. foreign policy generally in 2012 for working against U.N. statements that criticized Rwanda for supporting a rebel group in Congo known for committing atrocities.[

The principle demonstrated in Libya is that in any dispute between two parties, the 0bama administration will always side with the faction more unfavorable to this country.

Indeed, and Obama spreads chaos throughout the countries of the Middle East and chaos is great for the terrorists with which Obama aligns.

The Obama admin sends advance agitators to stir up people to overthrow their current regime. Their tactics always find the the worse excuses for humans, but Obama regime doesn’t care. The O admin isn’t picky about the scum they side with as long as the scum agrees to be a puppet of the NWO.

Obama’s Illegal War for Total/Soros Oil is too racist to even think of, let alone SPEAK!!!

Just ask anyone at The View, The Daily Show, or the Ellen Degenerate Show about this.

Mubarak in Egypt was doing the same thing...keeping Muzzie extremists under control. Naturally Obama had to pull Mubarak down.
