An article was published by science fiction author Jim Harwood on his personal blog suggesting that Maldives or Diego Garcia to be possible locations for the missing flight, carrying 239 people, to have landed at. The article, which entertained far-fetched theories about the missing plane, was widely shared by Maldivians on social media.

Max range at max payload for a 777-200 ER is 7725 nautical miles.
They weren’t at max payload.

Corpses are easy - throw them out of the plane over the ocean. Heck, in South America they don’t even kill people before they do that.

On April 2, 1997 a Malaysia Airlines 777 ER flew from Seattle to Kuala Lumpur on the longer great circle route eastwards10,823 NMs non-stop in 21 hrs 23 mins. and set a then world record.

I would love to know if Capt. Shah was one of the crew on that trip.

Has Capt Shah’s family ever turned up?

Has anyone posited on the chance of them being held hostage by radicals?

“Co operate Captain or we will cut your kid’d head off” ?

Great circle distance from KUL to MLE (Kuala Lampur to Hulhule, Maldives) is 1691 nautical miles. And the time (06:30) is about right. This may be something - however, if we don’t hear any more about it, that does not mean it wasn’t valid, only that someone does not think the public can handle the truth of what has happened to MH 370.

Was it an ER model? Hadn’t seen that. Of course if so, then yeah: all bets are still in play.

They have two homes. It my understanding they only stay at the house close to the airport when dad was in town

Yes. The-——Government owned-——Airline operates 14 777ERs. Or rather, 13 now.

They are a fair sized operation. I think they have cotracted for some A380 junbos.

You know I still would like to know where the pilot’s wife and kids are. It seemed like at least something to check out and make sure they were not being used as hostages.

The Gan airfield at Addu is an ex RAF station. It is certainly big enough for a hypothetical 777. They operate 757 and 767 and A 320 for the tourist trade.

BTW, the hardcore Islamists recently destroyed ALL of the ancient Hindu and Buddhist cultural remains in the Maldives.

Indeed. Have seen no mention of the family from reporters except for “he sent them away” .

Really. So you’re going to open a door on a 777 in mid flight, AND, manually throw out 230 bodies. Sure, piece of cake.

If it was low enough to see the doors
And it had run out of gas and was loosing altitude

How much longer could it stay in the air?

The Gang airfield angles from north-northeast to south-southwest. To land there one would want to fly over the populated part of Maledives headed to end up north of Gang and a little to the east.

Flying low to avoid the Diego Garcia radar that is only 440 miles south, one would keep their approach low.

If Gang has radar, they saw it when it approached their area as would the main airport to the north.

I said last week:

Radar Shows Plane Deliberately Flew Toward Indian Ocean: Reports

‎3‎/‎14‎/‎2014‎ ‎10‎:‎14‎:‎00‎ ‎AM · 40 of 237

Mat_Helm to SatinDoll

"Probably landed in the Maldive's at Male Island (10,000ft runway)refueled and on to Iran. Did the copilot wait for the captain to leave the cockpit and let his Iranian buddies in, lock the door and put on oxygen, depressurize the cabin to kill the passengers and crew at altitude? Boeing 777 converted to a nuclear bomber soon on its way to Tel Aviv or New York."

Only it was the captain who has been practicing this approach on his home flight simulator!

I said last week he flew through the Maldives and probably landed on Male Island’s 10,000ft runway. What is the approach plate for Male? The Runway is on a heading of 360 and the sighting was @90 miles away on the downwind approach south/southwest of the runway, just where I would expect to find FLT370 sneaking in for a quick landing and refuel. If the sightings are valid and I believe they are satellite images should pick up a departure and track it to the next destination.
