"The Five" are for legalizing Marijuana
March 13, 2014

Posted on 03/12/2014 3:19:06 PM PDT by NKP_Vet

Was just watching the show and they played a clip of Rick Perry saying that Texas has lowered fines for first time offense for marijuana use. So far he has not said he would legalize it. So the members went around the table and all but Beckel (recovering addict) said they were for legalizing marijuana. Dana Pirino said Texas might as well legalize it because Texans are coming into Colorado to legally smoke the stuff. She also said that if a republican wants to get a hand in an audience full of hipsters all they have to say is they are for legalizing marijuana. Guess that's the in thing now with some of these RINOs. They can all say they are "libertarian" when it comes to frying your brains on dope. So that's Gillfoyle, Pirino, the midget Gutfeld and Mr. Perfect Bohling, all saying they want to see more dope legalized. I'll post the link as soon as it's out. All four of this fakes call themselves conservatives. Prety bad when lefty Bob Beckel take the conservative position on legalizing dope.

You’ve posed the best question, and the one we all the answer. Nobody would dare try to sell our Lord and Savior the same message they’re trying to sell the public! God bless and keep you, re_nortex.

I might add that I think the government’s war on drugs is a joke and failure, because they’re not actually trying their level best, because there’s too many needless impediments, due to crossover agencies, pay-off’s, our porous Southern border and lack of cooperation from the Mexican government, (to cite a few of my complaints).

To my knowledge, there was no drug prohibition in biblical times, nor does the Bible say there should be.

If the above is true, what is the biblical justification for secular prohibition laws?

Recreational Drug Use Is Sinful. Note that I'm a member of a local church of Christ congregation -- not the La Vista church which is up in Omaha -- thus my bias. I think the points made in the article are Scripturally sound. Others, perhaps yourself, may vehemently disagree. If so, fine, but I still can't dismiss how President Ronald Reagan and his wife, Nancy, were "inflexible" in their opposition to drugs. When push comes to shove, I'll stand solidly with President and Nancy Reagan and be unwavering in my opposition to the evil hussein obama, a servant of Satan, who states:

As has been well documented, I smoked pot as a kid, and I view it as a bad habit and a vice, not very different from the cigarettes that I smoked as a young person up through a big chunk of my adult life. I don't think it is more dangerous than alcohol.

The drug prohibition has been even worse!

Worse for you personally or are you just pretending to be a Constitutionalist.

Whether is drunk driving or drugged driving, I don’t want the SOB on the road. One is bad as the other.

So despite recreational drug use being considered sinful in the Bible, there was no secular prohibition, and no admonition that there should be such laws.

Therefore, there is no biblical basis to say there should be secular prohibition laws today.

Very interesting information and thanks a lot for taking the time to post it to me . Never heard of this angle .
You have to excuse me , I write what I write through simply direct personal experience , and that’s all it is , my own personal experience and observations locally . I alone will stem the tide of nothing . I used to think weed was the best thing since ice cream . That was then .....I woke up and took a good look at the way it seems to cause the great majority of smoker , that I know and/or observe , to act, and behave and how they vote . To me there is a correlation I cannot deny . Thanks again .

“To my knowledge, there was no drug prohibition in biblical times, nor does the Bible say there should be.”

The closest thing I have found is that there are condemnations of “pharmakeia” in the New Testament, which is usually translated as “witchcraft” or “sorcery”. Yes, that is the same root word that gives rise to pharmacist and pharmaceuticals, so I’ve seen some argue that it means drug users, but it seems more likely to be related to the occult practices of making magic potions and such.

Prohibition of alcohol ended when economic arguments amid a Great Depression sufficiently eroded the moral ones.
With the Great Recession, economic benefits of extra tax revenue coupled with lower government costs (policing, incarceration) are leading to more medical marijuana allowances.
Is the slow legalization of marijuana proof that we are in a severe economic downturn, despite media’s claims to the contrary since 2009?

The question is, does one drink affect a person’s ability to drive? I doubt it, but it probably depends on the individual and the drink.

People can enjoy a drink or two without getting buzzed. The purpose of marijuana is to get buzzed.

According to tests that check reaction times and judgment, yes, one drink affects the ability to drive. You can't drink without getting buzzed and that is the purpose of drinking. In fact it seems to affect people's judgment so much that even when they're sober they believe alcohol has no such effects.

Sorry to say you are right. Wonder how they will feel about it when they encounter someone high on bath salts or angel dust? Violent and uncontrollable.

You mean to say that a person having one drink or glass of wine with dinner is buzzed and impaired? Sorry, I don’t believe it.

It’s a fact and it’s not dependent upon belief. :-)

Such things only apply to normal human beings like Venus Flytrap. Dr. Johnny Fever is in another class altogether. Possibly another dimension. lol

I’ve noticed the five are probably not as conservative as they try to portray themselves. Like Limbaugh, what they’re really doing is parroting conservative ideas.

When something potentially groundbreaking comes around, their true colors show through as they completely ignore it.
