An elderly woman violated her probation by leaving bread crumbs out in her yard for crows and will remain behind bars.
Eighty-one-year-old Mary Musselman was first arrested last month for feeding bears in her backyard. One of the bears was euthanized over it because the Fish and Wildlife Service said the bears might learn not to be afraid of people anymore and then get aggressive.
The judge in the case warned Musselman not to feed any more wild animals of any kind:
A judge gave her probation at the time, and made it clear: Do it again, and go to jail. She did, was arrested in January, and the case ignited controversy when Musselman was held without bond.

Well if she’s that far gone, she might attract a bear to herself too. So what happened to civil commitment. Family ought to be involved but if they CAN’T be... anyhow a stupid JAIL isn’t the right place for a senile dementia sufferer.
Agreed. My point to my ‘friends’ was that her actions need stopped, regardless of their cause. Unfortunately, some peoples’ attitude about freedom is that she can do anything she wants that endangers others, but those others better not infringe on her right to harm them.
That makes no sense. By that logic, I’d be free to shoot her and no one could tell meno.

Granny landed herself in jail, and your whining about it ain’t gonna change it, so yeah, I’m sure her neighbors are living a little easier as a result.

Fox 13 Tampa reports the woman has been released from jail and transferred to an assisted living facility. She apparently suffers from dementia.
