What is wrong with contents of this story.

1st thing: he grabbed his REGISATERED PISTOL. Registered? That is the first thing.

2nd thing: “It’s our opinion that Mr. Green’s actions and use of deadly force were justified,” Kleine said. “He feared for his life.”” Really, somone breaks into your home in the night and you need show you were afraid for you life. That should be prima facia, I don’t expect anyone coming into my home at anytime uninvited.

Some yahoo will point to this in a fight going on in Florida today over the Stand Your Ground law there. Total BS. there is some discussion about the law IMO.

I believe that the tone of the DA’s remarks was somewhat influenced by a (small minority group) public outcry after the shooting, due to the perpetrator was found in the front yard, so there had been speculation that he was shot in the yard, not in the house. And some of the perp’s relatives suggested that he might have been drunk and just confused about which house he was going into.

I do not think there was any consideration about filing charges against the victim, the homeowner whose home was invaded.

As will be the shooting of law enforcement if they kick in a door unannounced to confiscate firearms a state deems illegal WHILE LITIGATION IS ONGOING as to the constitutionality of said law. Sux fanatics put both citizens and law enforcement in this position. Almost like a setup to cause a Lexington event.

A memorial of balloons, wreaths and ribbons for Matlock was set up around the stop sign at the corner of 49th Avenue and Browne Street in front of Green's home.

Wait. What!? The kid forcibly broke into a house, assaulted the home owner and was shot and killed during the commission of multiple felonies. They set up balloons, wreaths and ribbons for the dead criminal? Did I miss something? Did the perp have Downs Syndrome or something? He had $240 in his pocket, it was 9:00 PM....

The home owner must have been white.

I feel bad for the victim/homeowner, having to view the “memorial” on his street. And also now he will probably be pegged by some of the perpetrator’s homies, who will no doubt target him. He will need to be sure he is armed at all times, home or out.

1. Who is required to register concealable firearms with the City of Omaha/Omaha Police Department?
Omaha Municipal Code 20-251 requires that all concealable firearms inside the city limits of Omaha be registered. Regardless of where a person resides, concealable firearms inside the city of Omaha are required to be registered with the Omaha Police Department.
Persons whom are valid Nebraska CCW permit holders (or any other State which Nebraska has reciprocity with) are not required to register concealable firearms and can be in possession of concealable firearms which are not registered.

So, does that translate into if one owns a pistol in Omaha while residing there, they must register same? Frankly I don’t see that as freedom.

It isn’t. Gets ignored a lot. However it is good incentive to get a CCW. That’s about it.

Actually, this is a considerable improvement. This DA was the protoge’ of a previous DA who was staunchly anti-gunower. This guy was the same and testified against CCW licenses for many years before it passed. In recent years he has become a little more reasonable, but he is a LONG, LONG way from pro-gunowner (he got slapped down by the legislature over prosecuting CCW holders after it became legal).

I once looked at the original Ordinances on the registration of firearms. It dated back to the early 1880’s. It has been around for a long time, but it cannot be very accurate.

I once sold a handgun through an FFL. When I went downtown to get the registration cancelled, I was told that they would not do that. If the new owner came downtown (during working hours only), they would transfer the registration to the new owner at that time. That was the ONLY way I could get it off my name. I told them that the new owner was four states away, but I had a letter from the FFL that it was legally transferred. They refused to change anything. I am sure it is still registered in my name.
