Cruz/Paul would be my choice but I’ll take either way.

I’d guess Rand Paul is going to take it and would love to see Perry as VP.

MY Number 1 isn’t one who considers the problem of immigration as one in which Republicans HAVE to make some sort of capitulation on so that the Hispanics in this country will vote for Republicans.

My Number 1 wants to enforce the current laws and to expel illegals and keep them from robbing, raping and squandering our resources.

That’s my Number 1....and Rand Paul isn’t it.

Paul has a tendancy to go off on a wierd tangent at times. I trust Cruz more.

Would be thrilled with Cruz, not so much with Paul. I still think Rand is more like his nutty father than he lets on.

Another of my fav’s at this way early point would be Scott Walker. Yeah, he’s dull and comes off like Droopy sometimes - but he has a track record of defeating a full on attack by the left/unions/etc and winning. He speaks clearly, presents ideas in a reasonable fashion, and while not so exciting I think he would be a great president. Being a governor adds to his potential.

Rubio would have been good, but I don’t trust him on amnesty. I still like him, but he’d have to make concrete assurances that he wouldn’t back amnesty (and even then I have my doubts he’d stick to his promises).

I think Rick Perry is fantastic and did as well in 2012, but I don’t think he can make it through a national general election.

This is correct - occasioanlly Rand wanders into the realm of some of his father’s goffier ideas, and I am not overly comfortable with that. I do think Rand would make a pretty fine cabinet offier though - him at Treasury would cause many progressive heads to explode.

The establishment won’t allow Paul to be the nominee, they will sabotage him just because of his last name...trust me on this. They will throw down with Christie or Rubio and repackage those two RINOtards as conservatives. The thing is Ted Cruz is a bit of a wild card, his support is growing at a rate that the establishment can’t contain..the base loves him...he may just take it all because he is a statesman, a visionary, and articulates conservatism...much better than RAND imo.

“My Number 1 wants to enforce the current laws and to expel illegals”.

Seriously? You can’t believe that anyone would EXPEL the illegals. Any candidate supporting such an idea would be laughed out of the race. Not to mention it is physically IMPOSSIBLE! This is a SILLY argument. I can only assume that this is just an anti Rand Paul post, even though Rand Paul is not for amnesty nor granting citizenship to illegals. He has a good plan to fix the problem.

This one is easy. Open borders vs. Closed borders.
Rand Paul 4 Gov. of CA. or National Leader of the ACLU

I find this concerning. Cruz is our best hope and better than Rand, yet Rand leads by a lot. Methinks a lot of the voters in this straw poll are a bit out of touch with the sentiments of true conservatives.

I am leaning more toward Paul at this point. So are a lot of my liberal friends. I also like Perry but I don’t think he will be the nominee, but I could support him as VP.

Expecting laws to be enforced is laughable? Deportation is impossible? Silly? Glad you think so. When they take your guns or your car or your house, or you are taxed to death because we have to support 50 million illegals, I’ll be sure to ‘laugh’ at it.

I heard Rand on Amnesty [the appeasers know better now than to say ‘amnesty’ in any context, BTW] or comprehensive immigration reform (before Rubio stepped on that mine, I might add) and I crossed him off. I don’t care what else he thinks, nor Rubio, nor Mitt, nor Christie, nor any of them. If they are comprehensive immigration reform, I am against them unless that ‘reform’ is enforcing current laws.

You can call it Rand-hate or whatever you want, but I am not going to vote for him for anything for the sake of political pragmatism, expediency, appeasement, Hispanic votes or any of that mess. Barking up the wrong tree here.

Don’t be concerned. Rand has been chummy to the establishment of late for his own personal needs, he’s tight with Mitch...CPAC has gone RINO lately as well...its not a big conservative tent as people think...think Grover Nordquist influence...I don’t put much veracity into this poll seeing how tilted it has become to the RINO’s there. IMO this is just more establishment attempting to prop up RAND as long as they need. That is until they figure out how to deal with Cruz, and groom Christie or whoever as the Republican RINO will be..then Rand will lose favor.

Rand favors letting all illegals stay. He is an Amnesty shill just like Obama and Nancy Pelosi. I prefer patriotic candidates.

Rand Paul will be destroyed by someone like Putin if he were President.

The gutless sellouts supporting Amnesty love to frame the debate as a binary choice between Amnesty-Surrender and Mass-Roundup-Deportations.

I think his nutty father is what makes Rand “think” before he acts.
