As Ukraine tension flares, Russia test-fires ballistic missile
The Sydney Morning Herald ^ | March 5, 2014 - 6:48AM | Reuters

Russia said it had successfully test-fired an Intercontinental Ballistic Missile on Tuesday, with tensions high over its seizure of control in the Crimea and its threat to send more forces to its neighbour Ukraine.

The Strategic Rocket Forces launched an RS-12M Topol missile from the southerly Astrakhan region near the Caspian Sea and the dummy warhead hit its target at a proving ground in Kazakhstan, the state-run news agency RIA cited Defence Ministry spokesman Igor Yegorov as saying.

"That missile might as well be a middle finger extending upward from the KGB Colonel’s clenched fist."

------------------------------------>

Middle finger to Obama, too?

After all, Obama said Russia was not a problem to US during the debates and anyone who thought otherwise was living in the 1980's.

Putin probably went to bed smiling after Obama made his ridiculous remarks.

The writer Woodhill at Forbes is an idiot. We did independent contract work for Israeli companies back in 2011. By that time, wealthy Jewish energy investors from Russia, Europe and Israel were working together to lay natural gas pipelines and develop natural gas fields. They did a fantastic job with finances, exploration and development to build energy supplies for Europe. The job isn’t done yet.

If morons try to take down Russia by using energy warfare, Europe will go down hard and Israel will also suffer. Israel is still developing the Leviathan gas field in the Mediterranean Sea that will supply Europe with energy.

Unlike some people here who believe that Europeans can go in the backyard and unzip a seam of coal to get fuel to cook dinner, it doesn’t work that way.

North Sea production is falling. The pipelines from Norway are faltering. The UK has about a 10 day supply of natural gas in its reserve tanks.

The best bet right now is let these Jewish businessmen spin their magic. They have a good plan that can supply energy to all who need it.

"Is there any proof within the Russian leadership itself, more than just circumstantial, that Putin timed this Ukraine thing after hosting the Olympics for maximum international leeway?"

------------------------->

Heh...the only person I've heard who talked about Putin and the Olympics was a psychic guest on Coast to Coast with George Noory!

That Putin would make his move around a week after the closing of the Olympics.

A psychic or the "most transparent presidency"?

I'll go with the psychic! <8^)

"Hey let’s all remember when Obama said that he would be “Flexible” when it came to Russia, maybe now we know what he meant"

---------------------------->

Agree. Flexible - as in devastating US military with cuts in manpower and $$$$ so he hasn't the option of taking a military approach...by his design.

Incredible... the US submitted to Russia and DID NOT build the missile shield in eastern Europe, much to the chagrin of the Poles and Czechs, as we had agreed to do.

“...That being said...what in blazes SHOULD we do about it??? Anything??? We don’t DARE send troops, aerial strikes are right out, and God forbid we threaten to toss a nuke.
Am I missing something?
What else do we have???...”

You’re now seeing the difference between checkers and 3-D chess.
Putin sized him up in 2008, had his number to the T and devised his game strategy. Palin saw it coming was totally ostracized in the media for it. You see, that’s the key word: “STRATEGY” just like in chess.
Strategy is the answer to your question. Strategy that we should have been developing since 2008 based on previous strategy. Instead, he was in the bath houses with Reggie, taking vacation, threatening/intimating conservative U.S. citizens, and, of course, playing golf. Unfortunately, Putin plays for keeps. It sure wouldn’t surprise me one iota that he has a couple of his nuclear-armed subs off each of our coasts, and sucking our intelligence with that ship in Havana.
Don’t get me wrong: I’m NOT a Putin cheerer. I think he is totally despicable, just not a despicable as odongo. One thing for sure, he’s a much better “chess player”. So here we are:
Odongo now sits with probably a couple of Russian nukes aimed at us and no strategy to deal with anything...can you spell: leaderless. There is nothing he can do at this point other than huff & puff while Putin totally has his way. Odongo is now twisting in the wind...and it looks like he’ll be twisting all by himself because he’s alienated just about every strong international ally we had with insults and NSA spying etc. Helluva strategy he’s got there, huh?
