Man Not Allowed To Vote While Wearing Second Amendment Shirt
Western Journalism ^ | FEbruary 27, 20i4 | Floyd Reports

Posted on 02/27/2014 6:20:09 PM PST by lbryce

A Texas man was stopped at a polling station during early voting Tuesday because of guns—namely, the ones referenced on his t-shirt. Chris Driskill was on his way to the voting booth when, he said, “I heard a gentleman’s voice over my shoulder say ‘he can’t vote with that shirt on. You’ll have to either turn it inside out our you’ll have to leave.’”

To some people wearing a shirt is just all about keeping your fat, belly beer chest from being seen. I've sen people wearing funny T-Shits, made a comment about it and having them have no idea what I was talking about. Maybe that's how he got dressed this morning putting on the first shirt he pulled out of the drawer

What a great story (not really)
This is just a great bed time story one ending with "and they lived happily ever after">

So, you’re saying, even if in direct violation of voting regulations, specifically when the candidate’s policy echoed the message on the T-Shirt, he could have stood his ground and legally be able to vote?

Me? I’d just take the shirt off and let them admire my 300+ lb body while I voted.

I figure that’s making their punishment fit the crime...

Good thing this wasn't in Wisconsin. He'd be in real trouble there for breaking the rules.

I can see exactly two views of this sort of thing:

1) CONGRESS shall make no law ... but if the state wants to outlaw certain political speech or outlaw Episcopalians, that's OK: the Constitution doesn't block a state from doing that.
2) The First Amendment has been broadened, it's not aimed at Congress any more, and NO ONE can outlaw political speech -- so carrying a sign promoting a particular candidate into a polling place cannot be stopped.

But the situation we have to day is that there are 8742 laws and regulations which limit the freedom of expression, freedom of religion, and the right of free assembly -- and just about everyone things that's just dandy.

It's a court case, imo

The lesson for me would be, whoever has as part of their platform, the elimination of that 2nd ammendment clause in the voting regs, would get my vote.

OR ...

If I had money, I'd buy a couple of thousand cheap T shirts with 2nd ammendment slogans and pass them out free to any that will wear it to the poll.

Stand 100 ft (or whatever the range is) away from the poll, preferably on private property and give 'em away.
Instruct folks to wait until a dozen or so T shirt wearers are present, put 'em on .. and walk into the poll.

I guess you could boil my comment down to ... THIS IS BOOJIT !!!!

If the shirt simply quoted the supreme law of the land, the Constitution, then he has every right to wear it and to vote. The leftists want to make the Constitution “political” in the minds of citizens so they no longer think of it as the bedrock of our legal system. If they can convince the citizenry that the Constitution is “controversial” then the absolutely weaken its power to limit the elite political class. From your comments you seem to be falling right into their trap. So the question I have is: “Are you intellectually lazy this evening, just plain stupid, or a tool of the left?

No doubt they’ll hide behind the indecency statutes, saying that you aren’t allowed to have your shirt say swear words or anything indecent like that. To them, the constitution, and in particular the 2nd amendment, is indecent.

After seeing what was on his shirt, I tend to agree with you.

It wasn’t the words of the Second Amendment.

While voting in the 2012 election there was a guy wearing a t-shirt that said “Producer, not taker”. He was ordered to turn it inside out or leave. He pointed out to the election worker that it was not political. The guy said “We all know who you’re voting for.” This kind of crap must be stopped.

I’d go outside, grab a clump of mud, come back into the polling place, and throw the clump of mud at Obama’s ugly face.
