Iowa Refers 80 Cases of Voter Fraud to Prosecutors
National Review ^ | 2/26/2014 | John Fund

Vice President Biden claimed voter ID laws were evidence of “hatred” and “zealotry” during a Black History Month event yesterday in Washington.

Ignoring the fact that voter ID laws were declared constitutional in a 2006 Supreme Court decision written by John Paul Stevens, the Court’s then most liberal justice, Biden is continuing the fact-free assault on anti-voter fraud measures.

When such laws aren’t “hateful” they are “unnecessary.” The Brennan Center for Justice says “voter fraud is essentially irrational” so it almost never happens. Voter fraud is so rare “you’re more likely to get hit by lightning than find a case of prosecutorial voter fraud,” insists Judith Browne-Dianis, co-director of the liberal Advancement Project.

Well, the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation disagrees. Not a state known for its hateful politics, Iowa’s DCI wrapped up its investigation this month and has referred more than 80 cases of voter fraud to county attorneys for possible prosecution. Since the investigation was initiated by GOP Secretary of State Matt Schultz a year and a half ago, five people have pleaded guilty to voter fraud and 15 others are facing charges.

Iowa governor Terry Branstad told IowaWatch.com that such investigations cut down on voter fraud because they increase the risks for perpetrators...

There should be a severe penalty for voter fraud. Let’s say a mandatory prison sentence of 25 years. If it is as rare as they claim it is, why would the libs bother to object to such a proposal?

When the rats say we are haters, they are pretty much right on. I hate rats. They are enemies of the people.

How about the death penalty? It would certainly cut down on repeated fraud in subsequent election. At least there would be less repeat offenders!

Republicans need to tie this in with all the other examples of election manipulation by Obama and the Democrats.

The case for voter ID laws becomes much stronger when voter fraud is seen as part of a larger pattern of election tampering by Democrats.

The harassment by the government of the Tea Party group "True the Vote" is an example. "True the Vote" was attacked in part for trying to get election monitors into local precincts.

Showing that Democrats have committed both vote fraud and have used the government to interfere with election monitoring is a potent combination.

Look for Eric Holder to order Iowa to stand down.

"If 80 cases were filed"

80 potential cases were referred to county prosecutors. They 've only had 5 convictions since 2012. According to local media, those 5 weren't deliberate.

Methinks Schultz is using this as a springboard to a seat in Congress.
