Two Detroiters targeted by attackers shot and killed those attackers in separate incidents Saturday.
It was shortly after midnight when two men approached a woman in the driveway of her home on Abbington Street on Detroit's west side, and attempted to carjack her.
The woman, who has a permit to carry, pulled out a gun and fired several shots at the men. One of her would-be carjackers was killed.
Neighbor Wala Alshibil said incidents like this make him think about having a gun for protection.
"I'm not a big fan of guns but to protect yourself, if you have to get one, get one," Alshibil said.
Varnita Owagbemi, who also lives in the neighborhood, agrees.

Imagine what would have happened had the intended victims called the cops instead of pulled their guns.
More range time needed.
50% average is not sufficiant enough.
Police are actually responding to calls in Detroit these days but even in the best of times they can only respond too late.
The NY idiot assumes 5 rounds is enough for these defenders.
His son.
Better late than..., well, maybe not.
That’s good to hear. Detroit police have a tough job that I wouldn’t want.
Sadly, not happening here in California. Not only are there tougher anti-gun ownership laws. But Gov Moonbeam Jerry Brown granted parole to over 1400 lifers, most in for murder and violent crime. Other governors repeatedly denied parole to murderers, but hey, gun registration in Brown's mind will cut down murders. Stupid democrat libs.
Jenny Granholm had a deal with Schwarzenegger to ship prison inmates here so union guards wouldn’t be laid off. She had a similar deal with fast Eddie Rendell.
I love a happy ending!
We call it names like Dearbornistan for very good reasons.
