Government = arrogance (among many other undesirable things)

Everyone who has been killed by an AR or an AK needs to get up! You have been shot with an “inferior” weapon!

May be so, but I simply stated that my choice of weapon was not an AK or an AR.

I actually would like to own a “real cannon”. Had a friend once who did. It was a Naval Cannon that he purchased and had a steel rimmed carriage built for it. He would shoot it every 4th of July. Pretty impressive.

Guns like my old 94 winchester and 71 Winchester can be loaded on the fly, without removing the tube. But you are right clips are faster to change.

... Better to be judged by six than under six.

One question I have had with these newly-illegal guns (the ones that did not become registered)...

Doesn’t that automatically force all of them “underground”. That means that they can never be sold legally again. They will go from one illegal hand to the next illegal hand. The State has just driven 350,000 or so guns (from the article) guns into the hands of “criminals”.

Celebrate diversity, lol

I have other, larger caliber rifles but the big advantage to the AR platform is the amount of rounds you can put on target while at the same time not lugging a ton of weight around. If I had to escape with one rifle it would be my AR precisely because it is, pound for pound, one of the most effective platforms out there.

I wonder how many policemen will die before they start refusing to enforce this law?

You know the original Eugene Stoner AR design was chambered for 7.62X51?

I’ve heard this rifle, the AR-10, is pretty awesome with a vest full of 25 rd mag’s...

Yes, I agree. I could appreciate a good .308 rifle. Very accurate long range and enough mass on bullet to do the job.

I have not shopped for one, but I understand they are a lot more expensive. Had even considered building one from components. Could handle the machine work I have seen.

But right now, it is not a high priority. More interested in putting away a little more ammo and components for the rifles I already have.

Saw a DPMS .308 at the gun show Sunday for $1050. Not much more than a midrange AR in .223.

Thanks, that sounds like a good deal.

Had though about building one, but the is probably less than it would cost to do it by components.

I have one priced out on Brownells right now at 1400, without the barrel. Has all the goodies I would put on the one from DPMS eventually, but unshootable without the BHW barrel I want ot put on it. The barrel is $320 or so. Thats about 1800, cheaper than the SASS and other high end guns from DPMS, Armalite, etc., but still 800 more what the GS vendor was asking.

I am more focused right now on reloading and ammo. Have quite a few guns. I am not that excited about .223

It is too light for my liking.

The .308 is a good round. I still like 30-06 a lot too.

Also shoot a model 94 Winchester and a model 71 Winchester. the model 71 is a real thumper. Kicks like a mule. But KnockDown? WOW

Bought some Hornady 200 gr FTX Leverevolution bullets for it. Have not loaded them yet, but when the end of the year reports are put away, I will. That original load was with a Barnes 250 gr. bullet. Incredible impact. The lighter FTX bullets have a rubber ballistic tip which improves range, accuracy and speed. Either bullet will take down anything on the American Continent.
