Cop Shoots Service Dog During Kid's Birthday Party

On Saturday, a police officer in Filer, Idaho responded to a call about two dogs running around without leashes on a suburban street. Thirty-eight seconds after exiting his patrol car, Officer Tarek Hassani determined that one of the animals was too aggressive and fatally shot it in the front yard of its owner's house. A video ...shows the 7-year-old black labrador convulsing and whimpering before moving out of the dash cam's line of sight.

The dog, named “Hooch,” belonged to Rick Clubb, who says he suffers from Parkinson's disease and that Hooch was his trained service animal. At the time of the shooting, Clubb was apparently inside, hosting his 9-year-old son's birthday party....

Police Chief Tim Reeves explained to a local Fox affiliate, "My decision was that [Hassani] did a good job and he was totally justified in putting the dog down."

Did you catch the “officer's” name?

Tarek Hassani.. People with names like that are well known to detest and fear dogs. If one was such a “fearful of dogs” person, one might shoot a big muscly looking dog like a Black Lab, with very little, if any, provocation. Here's the dash cam video.

Dog was barking at him. He tried to kick the dog, as officer proceeded to the house, he shot the dog. Doesn't look to me like the dog was trying to bite him as he alleges. The other dog was actually in a more "dangerous" position, but it didn't try to bite him either.

This guy should be sued, along with his department. A jury sees that video, and they'll be out a bunch of money.

The owner was lucky that the cop did not kill him, along with everyone else in the vicinity. He, and everyone else, had better give the police a very wide berth. He might not be so lucky in hid next meeting with them.

You never hear stories about letter carriers killing dogs.
It’s only cops.

"This cop is either a liar who likes to kill or a limp-wristed sissy who became a cop for the fantasy because he liked the village people and he hoped other cops would protect him (among other things). Disgusting and despicable.

Note "cops" name.....Tarek Hassani.....and recall the typical Muslim attitude toward dogs.

The fact she is suing the officers individually is irrelevant. Under the “defense and indemnification” doctrine, any judgment against the officer is reimbursed by the taxpayers.

Not necessarily, Hassani is the name of a town in Saudi Arabia. There is an Ayatollah Hassani at a Mosque in NW Iran, and there is the Hassani Group of companies in the UAE. Sounds like it's a general Islamic name. Pakistanis are probably less dog averse than most.

The officer did a lot wrong in responding to this call.

That said, the dogs were obviously ‘at large.’ The black lab though returned to his yard as soon as the officer used a loud voice. The dog was on the owner’s property. At which time the officer was the one acting aggressively and kicking at the dog.

I agree with some of what you said.

Why do people often feel compelled to side with one side or the other? The dog owner and the cop were both in the wrong. The owner should not have let his dogs run wild. The cop did not have to shoot the dog.

Ah, I was mistaken, I forgot about that.

This is more evidence of what I’ve thought all along. Dogs are the best judges of human character. Sorry this one paid for it with his life.

Muslim cop. Don’t believe a word. He probably kicked the dog because he felt it was “unclean” and when it came back at him, he shot it.

Pig. No Muslim should be in this country, let alone in a police uniform,
