With American blacks supporting Democrats and president Obama in overwhelming numbers, African Americans who openly identify as conservatives or align themselves with the Republican Party are often viewed as being traitors to the black cause by other members of the black community.
But, if you attended the RNC's 2nd Annual Black Republican Trailblazer Awards last week, you wouldn't know it.

A black conservative is a minority of a minority. With American blacks supporting Democrats and president Obama in overwhelming numbers, African Americans who openly identify as conservatives or align themselves with the Republican Party are often viewed as being traitors to the black cause by other members of the black community.
But, if you attended the RNC's 2nd Annual Black Republican Trailblazer Awards last week, you wouldn't know it.
MRCTV was in attendance at the awards ceremony and saw hundreds of black conservatives who were outspoken in their belief that modern liberalism is a destructive force to the black community and to the nation as a whole.
However, despite a willingness to fight for conservatives values in the Obama era, many of the attendees we spoke to told us that they had been called vicious names and subjected to ridicule due to their conservative leanings. "Oreo" and "Uncle Tom" were some of the names that attendees told us had been hurled at them by blacks who disagreed with them politically.

That’s easy..... Uncle Tom and other such derogatory epithets.
They don’t ‘say’ anything, they just attack. I wish it were otherwise, but it’s not.
“Gay” football players might “inspire” Moochelle Obama but I’m inspired by African-Americans with the courage to let it be known that they are conservative Americans. I feel really bad that the white communist liberal progs at the DNC and their “media” treat black conservatives the way that they do. The plantation crowd is no better with their name-calling and looking down their snotty noses at black conservatives. Disgusting.
That kind of language is not allowed on this site.
You cannot be a black american conservative UNLESS....
You have courage, honor, self sacrifice, intelligence, moxy, soul, savvy and large portion of Giddyup...
I think the black conservative movement is growing. I follow a couple of college age black conservatives on twitter and I’m seeing some very interesting conversations between them.
One black girl was telling her detractors that white privilege wasn’t keeping them down. Black arrogance and self pity were keeping them down.
She made another comment that blacks would never achieve the same “privilege” if they stubbornly refuse to use the white man’s tools.
Republican Blacks used to be lynched by the Dems in the KKK. Now it is done by ABDNC.

After Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas wrote an opinion contrary to the clearly expressed position of the New York Times editorial page, the Times responded with an editorial on Thomas titled ‘The Youngest, Cruelest Justice.’ That was actually the headline on a lead editorial in the Newspaper of Record. Thomas is not engaged on the substance of his judicial philosophy. He is called ‘a colored lawn jockey for conservative white interests,’ ‘race traitor,’ ‘black snake,’ ‘chicken-and-biscuit-eating Uncle Tom,’ ‘house Negro’ and ‘handkerchief head,’ ‘Benedict Arnold’ and ‘Judas Iscariot’.
All this from the tireless opponents of intolerance. The “lawn jockey” name in particular was a huge hit with the inclusive crowd. Emerge, an African-American magazine, ran on its cover a caricature of Thomas as a grinning lawn jockey with the title “Uncle Thomas: Lawn Jockey of the Far Right.” An illustration accompanying the article portrayed a grinning Thomas shining Justice Antonin Scalia’s shoes. The late federal judge Leon Higginbotham said Thomas rendered “Uncle Tom Justice.” Syndicated columnist Julianne Malveaux said she hoped Thomas’s “wife feeds him lots of eggs and butter and he dies early, like many black men do, of heart disease.” And thus were exposed the logical flaws in Thomas’s judicial philosophy!
Sorry...I stopped reading as soon as I saw that line of horsesh!t. I'm sick and tired of people throwing up their hands and declaring conservatives the "minority". We're the majority, only we're so cowed and chickenhearted we're afraid to act like it! Stand up, people...as Beck says we surround them! Stop being afraid of speaking your views, your principles, your morals, and your beliefs! Sheesh...

I think the writer is referring to the fact that black conservatives are a decided minority among blacks as a whole - who are themselves a racial minority within the U.S.
Of course, you're correct that we conservatives are the largest ideological group in the country.
