Nevadans strongly supported Reagan and Paul Laxalt, Nevada’s governor and Senator, was perhaps his best friend. Naming a prominent mountain in Las Vegas after him is an excellent idea.
If only Reagan had chosen Laxalt as his running mate over Bush...
I felt that way at the time. Reagan's major failure as president was his failure to groom a successor who would carry on his legacy.
