April Sniper Attack Knocked Out Substation, Raises Concern for Country's Power Grid
SAN JOSE, Calif.—The attack began just before 1 a.m. on April 16 last year, when someone slipped into an underground vault not far from a busy freeway and cut telephone cables.
Within half an hour, snipers opened fire on a nearby electrical substation. Shooting for 19 minutes, they surgically knocked out 17 giant transformers that funnel power to Silicon Valley. A minute before a police car arrived, the shooters disappeared into the night.

The attack happened last April; what makes it news (again) today is that today is the day this guy called it terrorism.

Same type thing happened at an Arkansas power substation. Put about 10,000 people in the dark.
Gordon Liddy wrote an article on these types of attacks well over 30 years ago for Omni Magazine. It’s nowhere to be found on the web.
I can imagine hundreds of terrorist planning centers in this country burning and hoping no fire departments put the mosque's out.

yea.. well. One of the reasons I so rarely post here is: Other people post things SO FAST, I almost never have news that is "new". I THOUGHT I did tonight. I hadn't seen this news. I did do a few searches on FR before posting, and didn't see anything.
Still though... this happened in April of 2013. Most news reports came out in December. Even then, not in MAIN press. The Wall Street Journal is the first MAJOR source to report it. I don't think that many people know about it... yet.

Boston Marathon bombing April 15, 2013. Coincidence? Wonder if there were any other attempts at that time.
I don't think there's much new.. although, the WSJ does include some cool graphics. You can read the entire article if you search for the title in Google or Yahoo.
