MSNBC panel pans O’Reilly’s hard-hitting Obama interview [VIDEO]

A MSNBC political panel was less than enthused by Bill O’Reilly’s tough interview with President Barack Obama on Sunday, claiming the questions were irrelevant and that O’Reilly himself “lives on another planet.”

The cable network’s Craig Melvin spoke with Republican strategist Susan del Percio and MSNBC contributors Zerlina Maxwell and Josh Barro about the testy interview, which seemed at times to frustrate the president.

MELVIN: Susan, what did we learn that was new yesterday evening?

DEL PERCIO: Nothing! I actually think they had a no-news pact going on in that interview.

MELVIN: It seemed at times like a wasted opportunity!

DEL PERCIO: And the same for the president. The president could’ve really stepped up his game too and he didn’t, but it seemed like they both went through the motions and we heard the same old questions and the same old responses.

Maxwell was less even-handed.

“Bill O’Reilly and the base of the Republican Party live on another planet,” she said, “and so, I think that’s where the questions were formulated. Because you know, the IRS, Benghazi, these have been thoroughly debunked. And then beyond that, just this insistence that president Obama is an ‘imperial president,’ sort of reinforcing that theme for the base.”

“I mean, it’s going to help the base and perhaps right-wing Republicans,” she continued, “but it won’t help anyone get elected in a national election.”(continued)

That interview must've really hurt Mr. Obama or they wouldn't be pushing back so hard at all the usual venues. As you know, I'm no fan of Ted Baxter, and the fact that this administration allowed him to interview Mr. Obama in such a highly-publicized way tells me that they didn't think he could damage them. Guess they were wrong.

I watched that interview.

It was what Obama should have daily. O’Reilly wasn’t too tough, he was fair.

Heck, O’Reilly is an Obama backer from way back.

Our media is so biased right now. It is truly pathetic.

Beyond belief.

I thought it was a pretty good interview. O’Reilly isn’t my favorite, but I thought he had Obama on his heels a couple of times.

If nothing else, he was certainly better than any of the so-called “moderators” we saw in the 2012 Presidential debates.

” Heck, O’Reilly is an Obama backer from way back.”

Uh, O is the only one out there calling a spade a spade ...

.....foxinsider.com....

Here comes socialism! That was the subject of tonight’s Talking Points Memo. Bill O’Reilly said ObamaCare is descending into chaos and Americans are starting to figure out that government-controlled health care is likely to be a nightmare.

The Factor host warned that ObamaCare is only part of a vision for the forced sharing of American assets. The socialist view is that the state should provide all citizens with a certain lifestyle at the expense of other citizens. “If health care is a constitutional right, then everything associated with good health would fall into the civil rights category,” O’Reilly said.

When O'Reilly asked about IRS and Obama said nothing was there, O'Reilly should have pointed out that Holder told a committee earlier in the week that the investigation was ongoing and he couldn't comment.
Seems to me they have already determined the outcome and are stonewalling the process.

That would have been awesome if O’Reilly followed up with that-

His Obamaness is not use to being questioned...

Interesting statement. So the media's job is to get someone elected?

Interesting how Melvin and Del Percio have become household names with top-rated TV shows, multi-million dollar salaries, and a string of top-selling books while Bill O’Reilly is just a nobody...

I don’t think O’Reilly was asking the questions we would really like to hear the answers to. I think the whole fiasco was a scripted dualing match question and answer session to make it appear that Obama was still on top of things with just nough tension to make it look real. Peronally I would likeo ask him what activities he and Reggie Love engaged in when Moochelle wasn’t invited along or did he intentionally arm al Queda and give them manpads to use on Seal Team Six as a “favor” to even the sore on the takedown on OBL. The SS would probably step in and consfiscate the video but would find out later it was really a live feed to a remote location...: )

“I think the whole fiasco was a scripted dualing match question and answer session...”

Perhaps next time, since these ‘tough’ interviews have taken on about all the significance of a sporting event, the president and O’Reilly could don Lucha Libre masks and conduct the interview in a ring.

“hard-hitting”? - Obama slid off of every question O’Reilly asked - even the “fundamentally changed” question, when Obama flat out said he didn’t want fundamental change, was shunted aside after O’Reilly counterpunched with “your own words” but failed to challenge O with something like what did you mean by fundamental change or why did you say it to begin with - as Rush is saying, now Obama can claim that he’s faced all the tough questions from the likes of Fox News and answered them all, let’s move on......

Follow ups were difficult, with the Obamanation feigning he was not being allowed to make his points when in actuality he was blathering and lying. O’Reilly then had to back off in “fairness.”

Whatever your opinion of O’Reilly may be I have to say that O’Reilly ASKED QUESTIONS and COVERED ISSUES that are seldom if EVER touched on by the MSM.

RE :”That interview must’ve really hurt Mr. Obama or they wouldn't be pushing back so hard at all the usual venues”

A better explanation came up on Kelly file tonight that Obama did the interview for the same reason he does everything now, play the victim to turn out the minority base to vote.

That is why he complained to BOR a few times that he BOR was picking on him (Obama)

MSNBC is on that theme full steam ahead.
