Why Gays Have So Much Influence on Our Culture

We've had the Gaymmys; we've had Duck Dynasty patriarch Phil Robertson suspended for expressing unfavorable comments about anal intercourse; HBO has a new series, Looking about three gay men looking for love. It seems as though just about every television show, whether comedy or drama now has a gay character as a regular.

It's not surprising that homosexuality has become mainstream in our culture because nearly everyone has a relative or friend who is gay and we have been deeply influenced by those words of Harvey Fierstein who said, "I just want to be loved. Is that so wrong?" What we have failed to realize, however, is that there has never been anything morally wrong about loving anyone, same sex or not.

But love is not what is behind the gay rights movement; it is a powerful marketing tool, though, much better than using words related to the specific sexual acts that trouble many observers.

One of the most intriguing and illuminating articles I have ever read about this polarizing issue was written by a gay Catholic man, Ronald G. Lee, originally published in the New Oxford Review. Lee formerly lived in Austin, Texas, and regularly visited Lobo's, a gay book store:

There was a section devoted to classic "gay" fiction by writers such as Oscar Wilde, Gertrude Stein, and W.H. Auden.... of course, if you see their propaganda, I would encourage you to note any advertisers and contact them. let them know that any company that supports the deviant lifestyle obviously has no desire for your business and you’ll be boycotting them and their products loudly unless they pull their ads

Be wise now therefore, O ye kings: be instructed, ye judges of the earth. Serve the Lord with fear, and rejoice with trembling. Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and ye perish from the way, when his wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all they that put their trust in him. (Psalms 2:10-12)

also they got away with equating gay behavior via feelings with American blacks as a persecuted minority, thanks to Obama especially in 2012.

There was no anti-gay lifestyle come-back to this argument(attempted), so it thrived.

I remember almost 4 years ago when Carl Paladino, the GOP NY State gubernatorial candidate took Andrew Cuomo to task for taking his underage kids to the gay pride parade where they were actually doing disgusting near porno things in public.

Guess who the mainstream media criticized?

Actually if you have those links it would be more informative than seeing vids of the homo's prancing around NY parade , YUK.

Lifetime! hell, these people LOATH themselves anew after every sick coupling.

Looking inside from the street all you saw were books. It looked like any other bookstore.

Some years ago I was at a midtown Atlanta hotel on business.

Wanted something to read, and there was a bookstore some blocks away. Walked over but was surprised almost every book was gay-oriented. Finally found the first book in the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo series.

Wasn't till I got back outside that I grokked the name of the place. Outwrite.
