If you actually follow my posts, you will see me getting in dutch with my Protestant peers rather regularly for cozying up to Catholics!
But when a Catholic gets self-judgmental, maybe I shouldn’t be too hard on him or her because that’s what he or she is likely to have learned, and not dreamed up on his or her own.
By the way I checked out that passage. Your church assumes it can “speak words of life” of itself rather than being a servant that passes said words on from God as best it knows how.

What the government is doing in this case is unacceptable, and would be no matter what faith the chaplain was.

Didn’t know (now I do) that the kids leader in that episode, playing the part of a teenager, was actually 30 yo at the time. His agent convinced Star Trek to hire him anyway since he looked much younger for his age.
I’m sure we’ll soon see the media frenzy over this retaliation; just as we see the media condemning Christie for retaliation in the GWBridge lane closures. I won’t hold my breath.
Why should I take it personally? You think the Catholic Church glorifies itself...it doesn't; it glorifies God. I have NO problem with that.
Apparently YOU think that somehow the glorification of God, using the gold plates and such, is wrong. I don't. NOTHING is too good or beautiful for God and the worship of HIM.
Catholic-hating and Catholic-bashing is a very old thing, especially by Protestants. I lived and worked in Saudi Arabia for FIVE YEARS and I never, ever, ever, ever heard a WHISPER of Christian bashing. The Saudis did NOT differentiate between Catholics and Christians. We were ALL Christians. No so for SOME Americans. I had to return home to the USA to hear Catholic bashing.
But, hey, it's your right to bash my faith. NOTICE that I haven't bashed Protestantism. Why should I? It's not good, necessary or desirable for ME. But for you? GO AHEAD, bash away--have a ball.
